The hostel is very homey, clean, comfortable and you can use their bicycles for exploring the area. I stayed for 3 nights and wish I could have stayed longer, they made me feel like part of the family ❤️ I will definitely come back again!

The bathroom is big and well planned out. There is a wood burning stove in the corner of the room so you can make it warm and cosy (there is also a heater/ac/fan, for all temps!). We were only there one night and paid to have an evening meal there. Four courses cooked by the owner, all locally sourced, delicious! Highly recommend this place. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the hiking in the nearby national park.

They drove me back to the closer train station and Yukie was so warm and welcoming. Even if I stayed only 1 night it was a healing break and that’s just so nice to feel so welcome. Kamigakure is a real treat to stay in and was one of the highlights of our holiday in Japan. The room is incredibly spacious, well equipped with everything you could possibly need. There were thoughtful touches throughout like local sweets each day and drinks in the fridge to keep you hydrated whilst using the private bath and sauna. Our room also had a projector and screen, which could be watched from bed and was a real treat when unwinding in the evening. The breakfast and dinner each day were exceptional using local fresh produce. I liked that there was a menu before eating, which told you everything you would receive during the meal. The portion sizes were also perfect for us. Not too much and not too little. Location to the gorge is perfect and was within walking distance (15-20 minutes) with Takachiho Shrine on the way. Also, recommend trying Marumoku Coffee in the village (check his opening times on Instagram first as they vary day to day). Would also recommend the karaage restaurant across the road from Takachiho Shrine. Both excellent. The staff were a real pleasure and asset to Kamigakure. Very welcoming and couldn't do more to help you have a comfortable stay. I would definitely stay here again and it has given me fond memories of my trip that I'll always remember. Could not recommend more.

Pre- checkin Instructions were clear and easy to understand. We wish we could have stayed longer.

The location on the banks of a river and within walking distance of beaches and coffee shops was lovely. The spa and outdoor bath was a great way to end the day. We travelled with family and the little kids loved exploring around the "boxes", looking for crabs, and catching bugs (with thoughtfully provided nets and containers). It was great to have space outdoors to relax, and they even provided bug spray! The shipping containers were well insulated and the furniture and utensils were very high quality (Hay). Fresh coffee beans/bags, grinder and drip filter were appreciated. Staff responded promptly (on Line) to supply amenities, including coals for the Weber bbq.
