After 3 months of traveling, UIJ is one of my favorite places I've stayed. The facilities were absolutely stunning, especially all of the well designed common spaces. I was visiting friends in Tainan and it was so wonderful to be able to grab food and dine together at one of the large tables or out on the deck. I stayed in both the dorm rooms and in a private room for one night and both were excellent. The dorm beds were spacious and each came with a large school-room style locker for valuables. Throughout the hotel, there were so many wonderful little touches like having soda water on tap and board games for communal use. Highly highly recommend a stay here!

Offering a restaurant and a fitness centre, Fushin Hotel - Tainan is located a 5-minute walk from Chinkan Tower. Free WiFi access is available. A slightly more expensive hotel where we stayed because reports of an approaching typhoon made us decide to look for a really good and safe hotel. Exceptionally for November, a typhoon was announced that seemed quite strong on the weather maps. However, by the day it was supposed to reach Taiwan, the typhoon had already weakened considerably and there was ultimately no problem anymore. The slightly more expensive hotel of course had very comfortable and large rooms with very large beds. The bathroom was equipped with a bath and a large shower cubicle. The room also has a kettle and tea. Funny thing was that in the evening we could not find all the switches to turn off the lights. One particular switch was hidden under a pillow on the bed 😊 Very large breakfast room with the most extensive breakfast buffet I have seen in Taiwan: Asian and Western dishes! Everything very tasty. When checking in, you choose a time slot within which you can have breakfast. The hotel is located 20 minutes walk from the train station: one long street with a sidewalk that has many small thresholds that doesn't make it easy for those travelling with a trolley. Very friendly staff at the reception who help with city maps and information on how to get somewhere. Ideal hotel for those who don't think it's too expensive.
