Situated in the forest with foliage all around the room. It is a 3-5 minute walk to the Rushaga gorilla tracking starting point -- the closest of all the lodges. I chose this location because I didn't have a vehicle and it was perfect! The staff was lovely, especially Gloria and Moses who helped me with my unconventional trip logistics and were attentive and kind. The food was delicious. The view from my room was stunning with a gorgeous balcony facing the forest where I took my coffee. The room was airy and bright with natural light and the ensuite bathroom had hot water in the shower (just let the water run for 15 minutes -- it sounds like a long time but this is what I was advised to do and the water apparently comes from a well). Although the lodge is in the forest, there were no bugs or mosquitos in the room because the windows and doors are well sealed (I didn't even need to use the mosquito net). There is no cell signal nor wifi but this allows for a peaceful holiday "off the grid" and wifi is accessible at the restaurant of a nearby hotel (15 min walk) if needed, which is what I did. Excellent value - I will definitely be recommending Nshongi to others.

Great lodge with the most amazing view of the forest! It’s located in a very quiet and peaceful area but it is easy to get there from Buhoma and Ruhija. Nelly and her staff are amazing and you always feel like home. I look forward to coming back.

Located in Bugambira, near Rushaga Gorilla Tracking, Rushaga Gorilla Lodge provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden and a terrace. Free private parking is available on site. We had a wonderful stay at Rushaga Gorilla Lodge while traveling with our rooftop tent, and it exceeded all expectations! The lodge staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Even though we were camping, we were given access to the lodge’s excellent facilities, which were clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed. The location is perfect for gorilla trekking, with the starting point just a short distance away. The lodge’s peaceful surroundings, nestled in the heart of nature, provided a perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area before or after an adventurous day. We also appreciated the option to enjoy meals at the lodge – the food was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. The staff were attentive, making sure we had everything we needed.
