Everything contributed to a lovely experience and an unforgettable holiday. The family room we had was very clean and quiet. The hotel is situated in a lovely small town, with beautiful shops. However, please stay away from the Exmoor Fish And Chips place - they serve their friends, neighbours and loyal customers first, even though you're before them in the queue (we were number 74 and they had served up to number 88 before we finally asked why it was was taking them more than one hour to do 3 chips and one sausage). Our bathroom had two wash basins, which we loved. The hosts at the Lion Hotel were extremely welcoming, warm, and kind, and we felt very grateful for everything. The food at the Lion Hotel restaurant looked and tasted absolutely amazing. The service was excellent as well. We loved both the breakfast and the dinner. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience, Ian and Peter. It was lovely to see a successful family-run business and be able to contribute to that. We really hope to come back.

I had dinner here and you know when you really suddenly find a place and absolutely love it but you wonder what it's gonna be like to actually stay there... it was amazing. The rooms and the detail of the historic restoration make it so cozy but it's so friendly. It's chic but not stuffy or pretentious. That's what makes it wonderful. Not just friendly to people but really dog friendly. So you're there in the most stunning setting. It's like being in heaven- you're in wild and wooly, romantic Exmoor where you can sit out on the terrace perched high above a stream and look out. Or go out and walk in the countryside. It's secluded but conveniently located to be able to go down to Exeter or up somewhere else onto the coast. It's just perfect and the restaurant is fantastic and well worth the detour to just to go to the restaurant. I can't wait to come back again and most guests come back year after year...

The location was perfect opposite the village car park with a donation charge of 50p. The accommodation was perfect with all the expected facilities and more. The pub and accommodation were both immaculately clean and the staff so friendly and helpful. Would definitely choose to stay again if visiting the area.

Lovely cottage with all the comfort for our stay. Beautiful location. The swimming pool was a hit with our teen and so were the horses. Lots of great walks at the door step. Would love to return.

    It felt like home away from home. Perfect escape from the daily routine of life. Linda and Andy were welcoming in their home and felt comfortable and at ease. Breakfasts were awesome! Linda checked in and gave suggestions of places to explore and where to have dinner. Beautiful setting and having the animals on the farm, including the gorgeous cats and sheepdogs!

    The whole experience was great. Rooms a little dated but extremely clean and comfortable with everything you need. From start to finish owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing breakfast and evening dining was incredible. Overall a very friendly hotel. We loved it and can't wait to go back♥️ Oh and very dog friendly
