Le Stanhope Hotel by Thon Hotels est un luxueux boutique hôtel 5 étoiles situé au cœur de Bruxelles. We stayed there for three nights with my girlfriend. Overall, it was a nice place, and I recommend it if you are visiting Brussels. The staff were very friendly and helpful. During the first hours of our stay, we heard very strange and loud noises from the cooling system in our room. We reported this to reception, and the staff immediately took action by changing our room and even upgrading it to a better one. The neighborhood is very nice, and it is within walking distance (10 to 20 minutes) of almost all major tourist attractions in Brussels. The room itself was quite spacious and tidy, with a safe, and the cooling system was very effective. However, I think an extra wardrobe would have been really nice, as there wasn’t enough space for the clothes of two people. Also, the bed was relatively small compared with the size of the room (and compared with our first room). But overall, it was a good experience, and we enjoyed our stay.

The apartment is cosy and equipped with everything you might need. I loved the retro bathroom tiles and cabinet, and especially enjoyed spending time on the balcony. I appreciate the TV programmes from Croatia, and the first aid kit in the bathroom. The problem of the sun waking people up in the morning has also been solved with the addition of a shade that blocks the light at the entrance to the room. Even on hot days, the apartment remained at a fairly moderate temperature without the need for air conditioning. Karim is an excellent, friendly host with a great sense of humour. He provided lots of useful information about the city, its history, interesting places to visit and how to use public transport efficiently. All in all, I would book it again. The location is perfect — it's just a 20–30 minute walk from the city centre, but you can reach it by train in just 5–6 minutes from Brussels Central and 9 minutes from Brussels Midi/Zuid, with trains passing by every 1–5 minutes. Since it's just across the street from Brussels Nord railway station, it's very convenient for reaching the city centre, the south of the city and Schuman station (for transfers to Charleroi Airport and the European Quarter, respectively). The Flixbus station is also next to the Brussels Nord station. Some reviewers mentioned not feeling safe late at night because of suspicious people hanging around the railway station, but that's not true – the same thing happens in the city centre anyway. I was out until around midnight, so I don't know what happens later, but it was just a normal hot summer's evening in a big city with lots of people hanging out outdoors.

I had a great stay at this clean and cozy studio. The location is excellent, in a quiet residential area but still very close to the tram, making it easy to get around Brussels. A real highlight is the amazing bakery Brood just around the corner, perfect for fresh pastries in the morning. Highly recommended!
