The boats that leave Copacabana to the island of the sun, leave at 8.00am and at 01.30pm Staying here made our visit to Isla del Sol more memorable. The place is conveniently close to the Temple of the Sun (Pilkokaina). We arrived via a Bolivia Hop ferry tour that stopped at Pilkokaina port, followed by a walk up the steep hills to the accommodation. It's a bit away from Yumani village, approximately a 25-minute walk. Be cautious when walking back from late dinners in the village, as there are no streetlights. The owner kindly prepared a simple dinner of trout for us. They have a kitchen where you can boil water and use the microwave. The view from the accommodation was phenomenal, offering us the most beautiful sunrise views right from our bed. The night sky was incredibly clear, allowing us to marvel at the stars and Milky Way.Breakfast was delicious, featuring eggs and fruit. The heater was provided, ensuring our comfort during cooler evenings.

Complimentary WiFi is available throughout the property. We absolutely loved staying here. The lodge is owned and operated by a local family. They have built a great lodge that is really well taken care of. The view of the lake from the rooms and the property is absolutely stunning. We found time everyday at the property to just sit on the outside chairs to take in the view, read a bit and watch the people go by with their donkeys and produce from their land. The family (Oscar, Sonia, Lis) were super friendly and helpful. They did a great job with breakfast. We loved that they also offered dinner which Sonia, the mother, makes herself. After taking long hikes around the island, we didn't have the energy to go out for dinner. The guestroom is very well done and super well taken care of and clean. We stayed in a family room with a lake view which was very large. The shower had reasonable pressure and hot water. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of blankets and an electric heater for the chilly nights. It is a very steep climb from the boat drop off point to the various lodges. The Utasawa lodge offers donkey service for getting your luggage up the mountain. I strongly suggest you take advantage of it. We thought it was a bargain, particularly after watching everyone with luggage struggling big time to make it up the mountain to the various lodges and hostals. We were sad to leave after three nights. We highly recommend staying here and would definitely recommend to any of our friends if visiting the island.

Loved the breakfast, absolutely loved my room and the gorgeous view of the lake out my window and the cosy warm super comfortable bed. Wonderfully quiet with easy access to the sun temple and Yumani (via the back tracks) And most of all Rosa and Mario went out of their way to make my stay as beautiful as can be. They picked me up from the ferry and transfered my luggage back down to the Harbour when I left. They have their own boat so Mario shipped me to Challapampa for my walk back to Yumani I loved every minute of my 5 night stay

This place is a gem - gorgeous view of lake, bright and clean rooms, hot water in showers, excellent heaters available in room, decent breakfast. Lucy who served breakfast has a lovely manner and is very polite. I stayed 3 nights and she changed my sheets and towels after the 2nd night which was a lovely touch.
