The host (George) took great care of us. He arranged boat transportation from Shimoni to the island and a tour of the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park (only our family, George, the captain, and the guide, were on the boat). He organized a walking tour of the island and village, which was fascinating. He can also arrange transportation to Mombasa at a very attractive price. George arranged home-cooked meals by a woman from the village, which were delicious. There are no cars on the island, and it maintains its quiet beauty, and one can walk around the area and meet some friendly people. The island's people have managed to preserve their heritage, and you can learn about their traditions, daily life, language, and traditional coastal seafood. A unique experience away from mass tourism. I highly recommend it.

From arrival to check-out, the staff were warm, attentive and genuinely eager to help — special mention to Dan (night watcher) and chef Clara, both of whom went above and beyond. The apartment was spotless, nicely furnished, with good air-conditioning (a must in the warm evenings), and the kitchen well-stocked for basic use. Breakfast was fresh and nicely presented, giving a good start to the day. The garden and pool area offer a peaceful escape, perfect for relaxing after beach time. While it’s not right on the sand, the beach is still easily walkable, and the location feels safe and calm. A few minor notes: more kitchen utensils (chopping board, additional pots) might help for guests who cook more. Also, hot water wasn’t always consistent in the shower, but not enough to spoil the experience. Overall, great value — I’d happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable, friendly, peaceful base at Diani without paying resort prices.

Although not directly on the beach, a short 10 minute walk and you're there. There are only three others rooms, which makes it a quiet and nice setting. The rooms are clean and there is everything you need (e.g., a fan for the hot nights), breakfast is good and there are many spots on the property to relax. Vervets and Colubus are also residents here! The staff, Grace and George, are very helpful and kind. Kiko was a very good host, super flexible and always ready to help. The place is very close to the airport, it's a great place to go for a vacation. The service was timely, Emily and Emmanuel were very friendly, helpful and fast to attend to any concerns or queries. I would definitely recommend Hellenas Gem to any one who wants a peaceful getaway.
