Beautiful gardens, decks, streams. It is idyllic. Simon and Mazz are the most superb hosts. They are thoughtful, responsive, provide you with whatever you need The room was wonderful and comfortable with glorious views. When we had an early morning, Mazz provided us with an amazing lunch for our hike. When we arrived, we were provided with proper tea and biscuits on the deck over the stream and garden. The breakfast was excellent and deluxe. We felt so spoiled with many options and china, linens, and plenty When I lost my camera, Mazz went out of her way to help me retrieve it by calling the park office and others. Calling every possible option. Above the call of duty.. Simon has wonderful stories and they are both brilliantly funny. We felt very at home and cared for They are the kindest hosts. We look forward to staying again

The shower was like a cool futuristic spaceship and speakers so you can listen to music! I enjoyed using the wood burner to stay cosy + watched DVDs on the DVD player that I took along with me. There's also a stereo for CDs if you take your own. So many cute spots in the main living area to enjoy a tea + a book. Fully fenced was great for my little dog. The bed was firm/supportive, comfy and nice bedding. The place was super fresh and clean - a bit cold on arrival but soon warmed up with the heat pump. Very close to everything, my pup + I enjoyed sitting on the top deck at the Powderkeg Chateau with a mulled wine + the Mangowhero river walk. Thanx to the lovely hosts providing everything needed for a relaxing stay.

Loved our night in this log lodge - only let down was wishing we stayed longer to get more use from it. Such a unique and interesting property - very big and comfortable - would be great for a large group (almost too big for just 3 of us!) with a number of different living spaces. Loved all the different seating areas and nooks. Very much appreciated the fire running when we arrived. It did get quite cold overnight so would suggest keeping the fire running or using the heaters. The view in the morning and having a coffee out on the balcony was spectacular - as were the homemade crumpets and jam that we had for breakfast. It had everything you would need for a big group - ample crockery, cooking equipment and pantry staples. Definitely recommend stay here.
