A really lovely, peaceful place to stay, surrounded by the sounds of nature, with all the little whooping, scratching, hooting critters that abound. Nicholas, the host, was so helpful in sorting us out with various things, including day trips. It is quite a way from town so organise your food and drinks before you arrive, and don't be fooled by the distance on the map - the real distance is further as you bounce around swerving round potholes. Some taxis might not make the journey depending on the season. Here be dragons....

We where invited to the birthday, she showed us all the animals around and helped us with a jungle trip much cheaper than all you could book around and less touristy very nice stay👍

At the hostel, every room has a desk and a balcony with a river view. The units at Majacho`s House come with a private bathroom and bed linen. The owner (Rafael) conveniently made all the arrangements for picking us up from the airport and taking us back to the airport at no additional charge. Every meal was unique and exceptional. Always with the touch of local cousin including rare tropical fruits. Perfect location if you are open to spend some time directly on the Tambapata river in the jungle in a quiet isolation. Make sure to go with Rafael on sunset river tour, he’s incredibly knowledgeable about flora and fauna of the region.He will bring English speaking guide on the trip. He can help make arrangements for the other tours.

Everything: the host family (Roger, Maria and their sons are all wonderful and nice people), Pepe the resident guacamayo, the location (close to the riverside). The two tours offered by Roger are the best in town and they have been the highlight of our trip to Puerto Maldonado. Definitely recommended!
