The laundry is only €5 per wash, with free dry. The kitchen is clean and spacious, with plenty of utensils and fridge space. The bathrooms are very luxurious, with a huge amount of room in the shower. I love the lockers in the room - big enough to fit big suitcases and lockable with your room card so they feel incredibly secure. The Cathedral is amazing. The brewery is well worth a trip.
The Cathedral is amazing. The brewery is well worth a trip. The 'View' big wheel in front of the station is something a bit different to do. The MAS is great. Don't forget to see the station itself. A work of art in it's own right. Plenty of lovely restaurants and lovely Belgian beer. Don't forget the chocolate shops! Easy to catch trams and you just tap your credit card on the white reader on the tram. No need to search out tickets before hand. Surprisingly good !
Surprisingly good ! Been to various places in Belgium numerous times, but this was the first time in Mechelen. Found plenty of places to eat and drink within 8-10 minutes or so walk from the hotel. Also some decent shops in the town centre.Guest review byGaryUnited Kingdom - 10
Lier is a lovely town, the streets are clean and quiet.
Lier is a lovely town, the streets are clean and quiet. There is a lot of history here and the canals and waterways are very beautidul. There is something for everyone, the town square is surrounded by good restaurants, the buildings are interesting and full of history. If you like walking or cycling there are plenty of well marked trails and an abundance of wildlife in the rivers and canals. You can take a boat trip in the old flat bottomed eel boatsand the guides are very knowledgable and interesting. There are good transport links witht he station being on the edge of town, just a 15 minute walk into the centre. The town Hall is a beautiful building. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Every time I go to B&B Droomzoet it is way to short. I am either passing through or stopping over from one of my many adventures through Europe, it is always a pleasure to see Isle & Peter. Seems like I have know them for years but I have only visited them on two occasions one just before Christmas last year and one a couple of days ago. This time I brought my friend with me to enjoy the experience and it was a sheer joy to come back and share it with him, as always Isle & Peter were the perfect hosts, didn't put a foot wrong and were happy to chat whenever they had time. The sheer beauty of the surrounding is heavenly if you want some peace and quiet from the busy lifestyle if only for a short break. Lier is a very pretty town with an interesting history and it is only a 20 minute train ride away from Antwerp. It is easy to walk between the various sites like the town hall and the beginnage and the Great Church. There was a small museum near to my hotel with some history and art related to the town that I also thought was interesting.
