My room was very classic old with charm and very comfortable too! I had a wonderful view of the old village Filisur and the mountains! The outside eating area is so beautiful! Vines going everywhere and gorgeous views. The pizza and the Thai food are delicious! There are great hikes in all directions and one of them leads to the famous Landwasserviadukt! My hosts told me of a picturesque hike if I take the train to Davos-Monstein, then hike my way back to Filisur. It turned out to be the most Amazing Hike I've ever done in my life!!! There were many train bridges, waterfalls, snow capped peaks, and postcard perfect villages off in the distance! One of the most spectacular moments of the hike was walking over the super high Weisen Viaduct and then taking pictures of the train going over the bridge from various viewpoints! The bedroom has a beautiful view from the city and mountains It has a good breakfast, and it is relatively close to the train station. It is near to a supermarket, a good bakery and tourist agency. As it is in a tourist located price is very high, but it seems to be in the average for similar hotels in this location (if you don’t have a car is better to stay close to train station, supermarket, backery,..... Fantastic walks all well signposted. Hotel Weisses Kreuz ideally situated in village, 12 minutes walk from station. Bergun is an excellent staging post for the trains that travel from Bergun, over the Bernina Pass to Tirano (E.g. Glacier Express). The village of Filisur is a beautiful, traditional Swiss mountain village. It is easily connected to the world by the Rhaetian Railway and frequent bus service. Ideal center for traveling in the area. Train service is hourly. There is also a short train ride to Davos Platz (hourly). Nearby Bergun has more facilities (and an interesting railway museum), and also a lot more traffic through town. Alvaneu is a great location if you like to also explore around for e.g. Davos and St. Moritz or if you planning to be skiing in different resorts. Is located about 15 min from Lenzerheide Ski resorts and 25-30 min from Davos. I only stayed a day and a night which was perfect.
I only stayed a day and a night which was perfect. It was nice to experience staying somewhere a bit different from the big cities and resorts. It was very quiet and there wasn't a lot to do in Tiefencastel, I did a couple of small local walks. There was only the restaurant in the hotel, and I saw one other cafe (not open) in the town, and a shop by the rail station.
