- From US$61.75 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 295 reviewsIt is easy to reach by car, enough place for parking near the house, the owner speaks English, we had a long conversation about Chile, he told which sights he recommends to see. It is a quiet place. This is a house on stilts, the balcony is over the sea. The difference between high and low tide is about 6 meters, when the sea recedes, birds fly in to gather food. The room is also heated using air conditioning.Guest review byStojanSlovenia
- From US$35.70 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.5Good - What previous guests thought, 297 reviewsThe place is 1 block away from the central plaza, where the restaurants and shops concentrate. It had a good shower, with hot water and a hair dryer. I was never cold, because I had an electric heater and an oil stove.Guest review byDiegoChile

Castro is a basic Chilloe town.
Castro is a basic Chilloe town. There is walking around the estuary and a beach on the opposite side. The national park with a board walk walk is 30 minutes drive. There are a couple of good restaurants. Two days was plenty of timeGuest review bylouiseUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Castro, the main city on the enchanting Chiloé Island, boasts a picturesque bay area lined with iconic 'palafitos' – stilt houses. This unique setting offers a truly magical glimpse into the island's rich cultural heritage.Guest review byJP GarnicaChile - 6.0

I'd been to Castro several times, but this was my first during high season, and I'd advise travelers that unless you like sitting in backed-up traffic ('taco') for long stretches, just avoid Castro from mid-January to late February, when trying to drive from anywhere north of Castro to anywhere south of Castro can take hours. November-December are great, however, and I'm told March is the best month of all. By and large, Chiloé's charms are not to be found in the cities.Guest review byDan
