The rooms are really nice and comfortable, they have everything you need and an amazing view of the mountains. The food at the hotel is great and the cocktails are good during happy hour. There's also some games to play in the restaurant area - one rainy day we played monopoly for hours and had cocktails and food at the hotel and it was super cosy. The pool was a big factor for us, after some city stays, we were in dire need of some relaxation and we certainly got that at Li River Hotel, especially because it's not right in the very centre of yangshuo. The centre is around a 20-25 minute walk along the river. There is also a shuttle bus that runs but we preferred the walk. It's also a beautiful area for a morning jog. The hotel staff can arrange trips for you too. They sorted our tickets do the light show on the river and told us where to go to get a sidecar to travel around. We loved the hotel so much that we cancelled our next part of our trip in China to stay here 2 more nights. I highly recommend this hotel. The facilities are open late and early and the pool is just gorgeous and super clean. One of the owners was really welcoming and shared a drink with us too. The room is beautiful and super clean. The towels were so fluffy and amazing. The bed was really comfortable. The view from the restaurant, pool and rooms was stunning! The free bikes were great, we took 2 mountain bikes and cycled a really nice trail by the river close by. Nanning is a beautiful city. We enjoyed an evening exploring the streets around the hotel even though there were quite a large roadwork project going on. We only spent one full day in the city to fit in at the end of our 15 day visa free viit to China. Qinxiushan scenic area is quite stunning and a beauitiful place requiring a full day to fully appreciate. Something important to mention is that the map location on booking.com didn't correspond with the actual location of the hotel I stayed in! so this is something to double check and rectify! Beihai old town was fantastic and shopping for pearls and eating out was wonderful-there are beautiful souvenirs, great food and architecture and it is the best place to buy pearls (bracelets, rings, necklaces, broaches etc...) Lao Dongjiang rice noodles are very close, highly recommended, they have local flavors that locals like to eat. This street is a street I visited, Shijiayuan Road, there are many snacks, etc. Opposite the hotel is Elephant Trunk Hill, Two Rivers and Four Lakes, which is very suitable for walking and taking pictures. Yangshuo is what people think of when they think of Guilin. It is set in beautiful surroundings, with karst hills, forests and rivers, is full of history and interest and is packed with lively bars and restaurants but has easy access to quieter, rural lanes and villages. Visitors love to dress up in local dress and photograph themselves so there's quite a party atmosphere. It’s the provincial capital of Guangxi Autonomous Region so there’s a lot economic and social activity going around. Lots of entertainment venues and good infrastructure and transportation services to navigate around the city. Beautiful, underrated, I should have stayed one more night. It was very easy to get around and the entire village at Ping'an has English and Chinese signage all on farming/hiking trails. I can't believe how empty the village is and part of me is concerned that not enough tourists are visiting even though I loved the serenity of it. guilin is a famous tourist attraction, things to do include a river cruise, visits of the rice terraces, tea plantation, seven star park, or a river walk around sun&moon twin. might be rather crowded in high tourist season. be aware of the e-scooters, which are just everywhere and don't follow the traffic rules. besides this, it's save to walk, also on ones own, even at night. if you don't speak chinese, find a travel guide, who makes the booking and organises the tickets for you.Guest review byElly MonikaGermany
