The housekeeping is very careful and changes towels everyday, as well as they always offer us bottled water everynight. I think this makes the difference. The location is awesome and our room had the view of the bund, which was perfect. At the same time it is far away from the buzzing and traffic jam area. Also the size of the room is very spacious, and 3 people can stay comfortably. They have LAGO restaurant, which is Italian and has amazing views of the Bund. In room service is also very good. Originally we wanted to stay in one of the many 5 star hotels on the popular Bund river, but this location had so much more to offer! It was conveniently situated to walk, just about anywhere for restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. The staff were very accommodating and ever so friendly and made our stay very enjoyable with their recommendations and local tips. Most, if not all, staff spoke good, if not very good English and were used to an international level of service with a smile! Nothing was too much for them! Immaculate. Everything is new and in good working order. The rooms are beautiful. The staff so accommodating. We got an upgrade just because, we never even had to ask. The location is perfect. A 2 min walk to line 14 Xeipu station. From here you can access all the attractions. It's quiet here, you can hire Hello Bikes through Alipay. They are about £0.40 for an hour. You can cycle all the way down the park/river edge. No cars there. There is a 7/11 right at the base of the hotel. We had a huge balcony and great views. If I ever return to Shanghai I will definitely stay here. Just perfect. Don't expect great WiFi anywhere really. It's China. The whole country is a bit sketchy for westerners. But it's no bother. Shanghai is an exciting city filled with history, interesting people and food. However be prepared to spent on transportation as some areas are not well connected by buses or the metro.
