Muchas gracias to the owners from Hotel Casa Carlota. The Hotel is near from Tamarindo, but you may be need a car to go there. For us it was perfect far away from the trouble. But its close to a supermarket. The room was very clean and we had enough space. You also have a fridge and a coffeemachine. We used the kitchen outdoor in the cooking area for the breakfast. There‘s also a swimmingpool, which was cleaned everyday. The owners are very friendly and they also give us good suggestions. Beautiful property with great amenities and amazing hosts Joe & Isa. We stayed in a cute bungalow with a pool which was more than comfortable for our five nights. We even spotted an iguana. Breakfasts from the hosts are top notch restaurant quality and delicious. Would recommend this property for those with a vehicle which makes it easier to access multiple beaches nearby.

Great location, quiet at night, right on the beach. Giant comfy bed and great A/C. Staff were so friendly and offered late checkout without us even asking. Breakfast across the road at the bigger hotel was delicious.

This is the best hostel I have ever stayed at. The atmosphere is great! The communal kitchen is fantastic! I stayed with my teenage children and they also had a great time. They surfed eith Marcos at the surf school and enjoyed it very much!! We stayed at a private room but enjoyed the hostel atmosphere and friendly people. There is no hoy water but actually It was so hot that we never missed it. It was ealking distance to Tamarindo beach and center, there were many supermarkets very close by. Excellent location! We will definitely come back!

Very pretty area around the pool and close to wildlife, I saw a hummingbird and could hear the monkeys. Staff very helpful when it came to booking my transport to the next place and went out of their way to make sure I was collected and dropped off in the right spot. They also looked after my luggage for an extra night.

We loved everything about our stay. The hotel is perfectly located with an amazing pool and private bar area on the beach. The staff were very friendly at reception, in the restaurant and especially Kevin at the beach bar. The breakfast and dinners we had were excellent. A definite must if you are in Tamarindo!

We had a nice big room with beautiful interior design. The host told us many nice spots for food and activities in the area when we arrived. When I forgot my Kimono in the room after leaving, she even sent it to San Jose for me. Definitely a recommendation!

Location location On the quieter end of the town. 1 minute to beachfront. Boogie Boards and deck chairs available to borrow. 2 minutes to supermarket. Attentive hosts. If we ever came again we would stay there again.

Town is just big enough that there are lots of shops, restaurants, and things to do. Gorgeous beach also. But small enough that you can walk everywhere. It's a good base for the northwest area but doing a day trip to a volcano or other sights is hours each way.

Nice quiet beach town, with just enough to do. Good surf but inconsistant small waves in Palm Beach near our hotel when we were there. Crowded near the main town and surf break 1 mile away where waves are definately bigger. It's a strong beach break, so not great for beginners and quality was not always so consistant. Can be dangerous, no lifeguards.

The most wonderful vibrant town! Will definitely be back. Recommend dinner and music at L'Estanco El Jardin Escondido & dancing at El Garito. Also enjoyed my surf lesson booked with Tamarindo Surf & Tours through Localbird.

Playa Grande is gorgeous wide and long sandy beach, very natural. There are spots for beginner and advanced surfers and is suitable also for families with kids. There is only one bar or buffet on the beach, but a beach club and few hotel restaurant are near by.

I absolutely love Costa Rica and extremely dislike Tamarindo. Tamarindo is the opposite of the soul of Costa Rica. Driving into Tamarindo from anywhere else on the pacific coast is a complete shock - a nosedive into consumerism, price gauging, bad food, constant harassment from vendors, laced with a background of drugs and overall sketchiness, and all dressed up in a sellers mask of "pura vida"... but believe me when I say there is no pura vida in Tamarindo.

I stayed at El Reinas in Playa Grande for 5 weeks and loved...

I stayed at El Reinas in Playa Grande for 5 weeks and loved every minute. I didn't rent a car or golf cart. I walked 15 min. to soda and veggie stand once a week for essentials. I went to Tamarindo via walking south on the beach for 40 minutes and taking water taxi. If you aren't able to walk either rent a car or plan to call taxi. Taxi from PG to Tamarindo is $15usd.
