Nice location with lakeview , very quiet, nice gardens, super friendly staff making you feel welcome. Beautiful and lovingly arranged Christmas decorations throughout the house making it very cozy. Amazing place, and people who work there! You can see that when this property was built and decorated they actually made an investment and put quality furniture and adapted a design to be with the respect to the region but with the modern touch. Very clean, food is great at the dinner and breakfast options are diverse. We also took bikes to go to the lake and a mini to drive around. Definitely adding on my “to return” list.

    The location cannot be beat; mountains on all sides. The dining room is upscale rustic, very charming. Staff very friendly and helpful, food fresh and interesting. The most comfortable comforter on the bed that I've ever had. Loved that our room for 4 had a door for privacy for adults. Shower also great. We hiked Wallberg (bring spikes in winter), and did some sledding (we borrowed their wooden sleds). The whole weekend was cloudy at the lake but not where we were: above the clouds in the sunshine! Staff brought a nice cake for birthday, a surprise.

    Really nice little house (4 beds and 2 rooms) in the backyard - all new with a lot of wood. We could park our bicycles in a shed right next to it. Really nice dinner in the restaurant of Tegernseer Hof and also good breakfast. Very friendly staff. With good weather you can sit outside. 10-15 minutes to lake Tegernsee.

    What an amazing hotel - everything you could dream of was taken care of at this family run hotel. Tucked just off the main road and in walking distance to the lake - a very reasonable bike hire shop and shops it is a gem. Lovely covered or open air pool depending on the weather.     Tegernsee is simply beautiful and definitely worth a visit. The lake is stunning an the boat trip around the lake is well worth doing. Shops and cafes in the village are good with good quality goods and food.

    For us it was the trip, a family reunion and a funeral and memorial for an uncle a trip into the past. Spent many childhood summers and winters here, when my grandparents lived lakeside here. If you like Bavaria and are active, hiking, skiing, swimming, sailing, mountain biking, etc this is a great area. It is also a bit of the Hamptons of Munich, so pricey.

    If you are looking to stay in a place where you can readily walk to all attractions, restaurants, cafes, bicycle rentals, boat and beach access, then this location may be a little out of the way. You should have a car. However, if you have a bike, it is easy to get around. Gmund is more of a villa and apartment town. The main activities along the Tegernsee are in the towns of Tegernsee and Rottach-Egern. The walk to the ferry boat is about 25 minutes.

    Bad Wiessee is a very nice town on the lake. You can easily walk around shops and along the lake with very beautiful view from the mountains surrounding. We ate at an Italian place (La Vela) which seemed to be quite popular as there were lots of people. The ability to join the other side of the lake as well as the other cities by boat is really nice day trip.

    Small town, quite busy. Surprising few restaurants! We ate in same Ristorante Trastevere two nights. Good. Nice lake in which you can swim. Early August temperature was fine. Pleasant boat trip to, and walk through, Bad Wiessee. Hotel Caro & Selig is well located though quite expensive.

    This place is best for cycling and walking in the mountains. It's quite easy to get around on foot, there are lots of hotels, clothes shops and supermarkets, but there aren't too many places to eat and no proper embankment to enjoy the lake.

    We chose Bad Wiessee as we wanted to be within easy-ish...

    We chose Bad Wiessee as we wanted to be within easy-ish reach of Munich, but surrounded by nature. The setting is lovely, at the edge of the Bavarian alps. However, the town itself is not very interesting ☹️ It seems almost totally devoted to quiet, sedate home-grown tourism (maybe for an older crowd) and we felt slight oddities, as English speaking visitors. For example, the tourist information lady was not especially welcoming and gave us the wrong info about the boats over to Tegernsee. And the crew lady of one of the boats was also very unhelpful (rude in truth) when we didn’t understand the somewhat confusing boat timetable. Others (German speakers, unlike us) also seemed perplexed. Really, we would have preferred to stay in Tegernsee on the other side of the lake, as the boats only operated for limited hours and the train station is over in Tegernsee. Buses weren’t reliable!! We missed a train because we waited half an hour for a bus that never materialised. Bad Wiessee isn’t really suitable for those travelling by train / public transport , as we were. I’d pick somewhere else unless you have a car or fancy cycling everywhere. There were lots of cyclists (mostly older, on e-bikes). Plus food options weren’t that appealing. A lot of places seemed closed and/ or very traditional.

    Best gateway if you are leaving nearby munich, really beautiful and nice and definitely not spoiled with influx of tourists. Destination is well connected, one can take direct train from munich central station and reach there in about an hour.
