Gottingen is a lovely town and very easy to negotiate. We drove from Frankfurt and there was plenty of parking everywhere including near the university and city centre. It was a business trip and I was there only for some hours. Most impressive was the place of the destroyed Synagogue and the old buildings in the city. I was there to preach at the Christ Embassy Church and the people were really friendly and kind. It's worth taking time out to explore Hameln and experience the charm of this fairy tale town. The old town is really quite beautiful, and there are plenty of street cafes to choose from. My partner and I both had a sore back from the mattrass and the pillows are so thin you need to ask for a second pillow! * For German standards the breakfast is simple * When checking in the lady from the reception did not speak English and when we left no questions asked like how was your stay. I was only in the charming historical part of the time. There were few cars and a very free feeling as people were on foot and riding bicycles. I could go everywhere I wanted to go on foot. However, I never came across a city map which could have kept me from getting lost. The buses were very quiet. The cuisine was varied and well-prepared. I ate all my meals in the Gao Indian restaurant on Kurze Geismar Strasse because it was the best Indian restaurant I have ever experienced. Hildesheim is a lovely place full of friendly people excellent cafes and restaurants and simply a feeling of relaxation. On our two trips to watch the invaders American football team we have been lucky to coincide with a wonderful Craft fair in the Magdalene Gardens and then a music festival on the second weekend.
