EstoniaAmazing feeling during wintertime. The sauna was excellent and the overall vibe aswell. Very quiet even if its pretty close to the road but cant hear anything. If you want time away from the city to bbq, heat the sauna by burning the logs and so on its amazing feeling! Very clean place aswell. There was coffee and some food seasoning even. The sheets in the bed were of very good quality thus guaranteed a super nice sleep and we were really rested!

The kitchen is well equipped, the rooms are nice. The main room is spacious and cozy. The sauna was nice (you cannot use brooms inside tho). The jacuzzi outside was exceptional. I was worried there is no fence (so I thought from the pictures) but there actually is and our dog really loved it outside. It is also very warm inside. The cabins are on a small lake from where you can dive straight in to cool off. The cabin is modest but very comfortable. Everything you need is there. Very comfortable and neat appartment, efficient heating which matters in the winter when we have stayed there. Cosy surroundings, fantastic location just few minutes from the lake where you can start your cross-counrty skiing at at a well maintained classical trail from this lake (Otepaa) to Kaariku for the first day. Also great classical trails along the famous Tartu Marathon. And a very kind host, Mati. Our stay was just fantastic. P.S. This can be dubbed the garden town of Estonia (which in itself could be named the garden country of Europe). Every detached house has an immaculate garden with lots of flowers in the summer and the town government does not save pennies on making streets floral and beautiful. There are small and larger forests in the neighbourhood and there are two small beaches bordering natural lakes in the town centre. For those looking for vibrant nightlife, this is not the place to be. From Elva you can take the train or bus to Tartu from the 19th century wooden train station. In the other direction, the train goes to Valga from where you can travel onwards into Latvia. Overall, i would think that 3 days is about right to explore Elva (and its excellent small scale restaurants) and the surroundings.Guest review byLeoDCBelgium - 6.0
If you like to enjoy nature you might visit Sangaste.
If you like to enjoy nature you might visit Sangaste. There is a dendrological park 3 kilometers away from Rukki Maja. Recommended in summer, of course. It is close to the Castle which you also can visit or even stay there. If you like skiing, mountain or cross country, then go towards Otepää or Kuutsemäe by car. Also there has been a cross country skiing track from the Castle to Kääriku through many years. In summer use a bike to enjoy the nature.Guest review byxanseEstonia - 10.0
We love Otepää & Pühajärve.
We love Otepää & Pühajärve. Fantastic central location in South Estonia. Plenty of hotels, apartments & guesthouses to rent. Perfect for taking day trips to surrounding areas & sites. Town itself is very pretty & has great grocery stores. People & service is exceptional. My husband had a headache, but in Estonia pharmaceuticals are only sold in pharmacies - no headache tablets in grocery stores or petrol stations etc. It was late in the evening and all pharmacies were closed. We went to the local petrol station in hopes to find some pain killers only to find out they are only sold in pharmacies, so the lady at the counter gave us some of her own headache tablets ♥️♥️♥️ I love wild swimming & Pühajärve lake has a great sandy beach + beautiful park for those who love walking.
