- From US$47.26 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 283 reviewsNice nostalgic place to stay, I've been there several times in the past. I visited 6 lakes there: 2 bigger in Elva, another bigger one near this place and also three smaller lakes within 3 km. Nice walking path in the forest, nice birdsong around the building and in the forest (in spring). The path of Tartu ski marathon is very beautiful, like a wide highway in the middle of the forest. I like the small houses spread around the main house between trees. The toilets and shower room are common for the whole level and there are separate levels for men and women (men in the ground floor). There's a possibility of using fridge (check the cable first that it is plugged in!), microwave and a small water boiler for boiling about 1 litre of water. The water in the taps had a strong iron taste so I didn't use it for drinking, not even boiled. There was TV in the room, wifi worked, even with IPv6 directly from the internet service provider. Curtains in the room could be closed for night pretty well so the early morning brightness didn't come too much in the room. It was quiet during the night and the window could be closed well enough so that the bird sounds didn't wake up too early. The gunshots (as for practice by some people who come and practice there) could be disturbing to some, they echo kilometres away in the forest and to Elva but it wasn't that bad for me; in the building they are less audible than when being outside.Guest review byRiivoEstonia
- From US$121.34 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,095 reviewsEverything! As I told Reception on my way out this morning after three absolutely delightful nights there, this was not a *five*-star hotel, but rather a *seven*-star one! As soon as we arrived, we were given a super-upgrade to a large room, lavishly decorated with drapes and period-piece furniture fit for royalty. I actually had to go back to Reception for confirmation that they had indeed assigned us to the right room! In addition, the breakfast buffet was outstanding on each of the three days of our stay. I can single out the croissants, apple strudel, cheesecake, variety of jams, and fruit salad as particularly excellent items. I reckon this hotel must have hired a pastry chef par excellence to achieve the level of culinary satisfaction that we experienced. Moreover, the staff at Reception were invariably friendly, courteous, cheerful and helpful. I would like to identify one of the staff in particular, Vanessa, who was always willing to go the extra mile to answer our questions about sites of interest. She even ventured out into the cold one day to point us in the right direction for the Botanical Gardens. If ever we visit Tartu again someday, I would choose the Hotel Antonius in a heartbeat. Kudos to the hotel staff for making this such a memorable three days!Guest review byMichaelSingapore
- From US$75.47 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,154 reviewsThe staff was so helpful and caring! I couldn't check until aft 8 pm and the staff made sure that I able to get a key. They sent me their phone number and helped me when I had any questions. The room was really charming! It had a warmth that you won't find in a hotel. Also, I requested a quiet room and my room was so quiet! Also, the Villa is centrally located, so I could walk wherever I needed to go. It is a very short walk to the Villa from the bus station. I highly recommend the Villa if you would like a charming environment with an exceptionally caring staff!Guest review byLisaLithuania

Absolutely fantastic small, green, walkable city with a great young studently attitude combined with lots of arts. Poets, writers dramatists who had come from there. I found learning all about them while strolling leisurely around their city fascinating. I, personally, really hope to return there soon.Guest review byDeclanIreland - 10

This can be dubbed the garden town of Estonia (which in itself could be named the garden country of Europe). Every detached house has an immaculate garden with lots of flowers in the summer and the town government does not save pennies on making streets floral and beautiful. There are small and larger forests in the neighbourhood and there are two small beaches bordering natural lakes in the town centre. For those looking for vibrant nightlife, this is not the place to be. From Elva you can take the train or bus to Tartu from the 19th century wooden train station. In the other direction, the train goes to Valga from where you can travel onwards into Latvia. Overall, i would think that 3 days is about right to explore Elva (and its excellent small scale restaurants) and the surroundings.Guest review byLeoDCBelgium - 10
The hostess was great.
The hostess was great. They provided additional information regarding a tour of the castle and the area. The breakfast menu was provided the evening before and it was extensive. I checked off just about everything on offer and then worried it would be too much, but the portions were adjusted accordingly, and thus I was delighted to have been able to taste all of what was offered. As for the area...restful.Guest review byJAANCanada - 10

Tartu is the intellectual capital of Estonia and has some great museums. Eesti Rahva Museum is a must go. A fantastic history of Estonia and the finno-ugrik peoples. Vanemuine opera is good and good value. Loodus museum is better than Tallinn. Great restaurants and easy to get around on public transport.Guest review byGilesAustralia - 10
