As any Paradores, the hotel boasts style and culture in a very quiet surroundings. The breakfast was impeccable - great variety of fresh and healthy choices, tasteful fresh bread, great orange juice. The room was spacious and very stylish. We stayed half board and enjoyed very nice dinner - staff at the restaurant are very friendly and attentive.Guest review byPieterBelgium

I was a little disappointed with the Guggenheim museum from inside. I have been to many museums around the world and in Spain. This was my least favourite. Some of the exhibits were closed due to renovations. The Erriberako Merkatua (the fresh food market) was also very disappointing. I found the restaurants were always very full with very few employees to serve you. To be seated often the wait was 20 minutes. The street signs were not clear and google maps when walking, was very poor. Many of the locals did not speak good English. I had brushed up on some Spanish before going. Most importantly, since I did quite a lot of shopping I was not made aware that for the VAT refund you had to get a DIVA form from each store. I lost a lot of money as at the airport the form was essential. This is the system all over Spain.Guest review byTINAIndia - 8.0
Nice lively city though very busy with tourists.
Nice lively city though very busy with tourists. Plenty of things to see and do. The San Telmo Museum is well worth a visit. Pintxos bars are obviously one of the main attractions but there are plenty of good restaurants too.Guest review byJohnAustralia - 10.0
Very nice city. It isn't big and can be walked through.
Very nice city. It isn't big and can be walked through. All districts that we visited were tidy, with good architecture and style. Really beautiful streets and architecture, traditional and modern at the same time. Recommend to visit: - San Francisco (central) park - not big, but proposes a good walk. - Catedral de San Salvador - it brings impression. Also nice walking around through older streets, whose squares are the centers of evening entertainment. - Oviedo Congress and Exhibitions Center - very impressive with its size and design. I was shocked encountering such a stylish giant in a city that small. - Sacred Heart of Jesus Monument - the monument itself is nice, but mostly interesting (at least for me) for its amazing view - the whole city can be observed from here, mountain views, your site can even reach the ocean and Gijon. Also there are several points of interest nearby moving back to the city. If you travel with a child, the playgrounds are also fine here. My daughter enjoyed zip lines a lot which are quite common here.Guest review byMikhailRussia - 10.0

We stayed in Santander for two days in October, and that was sufficient, but I can imagine that if it was in summer, you could really enjoy the beaches within walking distance and spend a few more days. Safe and enjoyable city.Guest review byManuelUnited States - 8.0
A different Spain, on the north west tip of the country.
A different Spain, on the north west tip of the country. Weather can be trying, wind and rain are ever present possibilities. Despite the hills, easily walkable. Good bus service, pay the driver. Proximity to Santiago de Compostela by rail and bus. Direct flight by Vuelling from Gatwick.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I was pleased with my time in Arzua. I was tired.
I was pleased with my time in Arzua. I was tired. It was a long hard walk with a 40 lb pack on my back, so reaching Arzua and having a clean comfortable bed with a private bathroom and the promise of a hearty breakfast the next morning was a bonus. Also I learned that I could have someone courier my back pack to my next destination was a very welcome piece of news.Guest review byPamelaCanada - 8.0

O Pedrouzo is a small town on the way to El Camino De Compostela. We only needed to stay one night and that was enough. I'm not sure if there were much to do in town. We tried two restaurants El Bule and Galaicos that serve traditional Galician food. Prices were fair and food was good.Guest review byJuan - 6.0

The town was very quiet when we visited on a Sunday with few people around and most restaurants were closed. We ended up eating at a tourist place where the waiter was more interested in finishing his shift. We visited a Roman House of Mosaics museum which actually gave very little information and the mosaics were not very easy to see. The Roman exhibition and museum by the Porta Mina was far more interesting - I'd recommend visiting that one first. The cathedral was not at all welcoming at a cost of EUR 8, photography forbidden and the cathedral museum was very poorly presented. The Roman walls are quite astonishing and will take a good 30-40 mins to walk around. Be aware this town is built on a steep hillside.Guest review byTraceyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Definitely a holiday town with a good degree of history, including a Roman bridge over the river. We have stayed here before a couple of times on previous road trips so we knew we were on a good stopover.Guest review byMartinUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We only stayed a night because we were on the Camino.
We only stayed a night because we were on the Camino. We would have wanted to stay longer, the city had many historic places and old churches, but a many were closed (we were there on a Sunday). There was a farmer's market which had many interesting artisanal food. The cafes were bustling - we only had time for churros con chocolate (where we ordered double because it was sooo good) - but there were many food places - bakeries, pastry shops, cheese, jamon, and everything in between. Would love to come back and spend more time in this beautiful city. The city was bounded by mini forests which was a joy to traverse, with the trail dotted by chestnuts.Guest review byAnonymous
