Nice fishing village with plenty of restaurants and tourist-oriented shops. The village centre is a harbour and the beaches are on the edge of the village. The main town, St Pierre, is very close and worth a visit. We enjoyed our visit to Boyardville on the other side of the island where there are many boat trips available.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The town is quite spread out - cars or bicycles are needed to get around. Most of the town faces the main beach area which is very oyster production orientated and not very pretty. There are a number of great restaurants and a nice town centre by the church - it’s not immediately obvious. The council has gone to great lengths to make the public areas nice with gardens and promenades.Guest review byAlistairUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Stay overnight in order to explore Island on our first visit - located centrally. Great for seaside shops and choice of restaurants for evening, which suited our needs. Touring around enabled us to appreciate the smaller villages, and stunning coastline.Guest review bychristineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The busy fishing port and fresh fish markets were of great interest, and there was plenty of choice at restaurants -particularly if you wanted to eat fresh fish! The island is really well set-up for cycling-cycle lanes abound and the island of Oleron is flat. The oyster gathering industry is another distinctive feature of the Island.Guest review bygeoffreyUnited Kingdom
