- From $86.91 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.5Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 385 reviewsThe location is good. Convenient for the village & the Basilica. The building structure is attractive, it needs to be more eye catching & brightening up. Paint, pots of plants. The bed was fine, clean white sheets & comfortable. There is a lack of surfaces & hooks in the bathroom. Difficulty in finding space to put toiletries & no hooks to hang even a shower cap on. Provided by myself. The room rate is very acceptable but it does lack user friendly facilities. The chamber maid/housekeeper does a good job. The reception area could do with more effort in regard to customer service. This may serve student guests but the approach for older categories needs a bit of polishing up.Guest review byJenniferMalta
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 291 reviewsCosy, small family-run hotel. With neat , personal welcome. Does not speak English, but communication was fine. Nice room, with pleasant bathroom. Not small. On garden side and not bothered by traffic. Nice garden to sit in. Food in the restaurant was very high and creative quality. Limited menu though, but was offered another dish special after few days. Good price-quality balance. Good base for visiting Avallon and Vezelay. Breakfast with local cheeses was excellent.Guest review byMarjoleinNetherlands

With a smile. And delicious ! I had some idea of the wine I wished to taste. They confirmed my choice. Beyond expectations ! Always available for any help, advises. Our room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The surrounding area was absolutely beautiful and easy to access. Dinner was delicious and the breakfast buffet was very nice with the option to order added items which we did not take advantage of. The staff was personable and helpful. They understood some English and appreciated our attempt at French.Guest review byJacquelineUnited States
- From $346.48 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 188 reviewsA superb hotel. We stayed 4 nights in a 2-storey townhouse facing the pool and the chateau environment was spectacular. We did day trips each day to nearby places of interest -- Vezelay with its beautiful church at the top of the hill, Fontenay Abbey, Avallon, and the picturesque city of Auxerre only a 15 minute drive away. Breakfasts were fine; bed was comfy; free parking on site.Guest review byBarrieCanada

Still a huge and very nice room, very quiet with lots of amenities. The restaurant is amazing (2 stars) but pricey of course although the lunch menu is a good option. A hotel on the waterfront, Hotel Maxime, a lovely old, quaint, medieval town with quality shops, a delicious meal at Chez Maxim, altogether a delightful stay. We were only there for one night but wished we’d been able to stay longer and explore more. A town to be recommended😄😄Guest review bydavidSpain - 10.0

Sens is a lovely little city with a fabulous medieval cathedral. Sens seems to be overlooked by travellers but there is planty to see and do, lots of good restaurants, and a very helpful Tourist Office. The city is also very clean, well laid out with plenty of treesGuest review byJeremyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Avallon is an attractive market town in northern Burgundy.
Avallon is an attractive market town in northern Burgundy. It is immersed in beautiful countryside, and is of a manageable size for walking around, sampling the shops, cafes, and restaurants, and enjoying the Burgundian architecture. It is quiet in May. It can be a nice base for a few days to adventure to nearby sites such as Vezelay and the Bazoche chateau.Guest review byMatthewUnited States - 6.0

Chablis seemed to be a town where people come to have an expensive meal and drink some fine wine. The town did not have many or any bistros, only high end restaurants that were totally booked on the night we were in town. Hence our dinner consisted of a charcuterie board at a local bar. I highly recommend reserving dinner in advance before visiting this town.Guest review byGregoryUnited States - 10.0
Vézelay is a crazy place.
Vézelay is a crazy place. It is hyped up in every tourist guide on the Bourgogne you can find, but it is actually a one street village on the top of a mountain whose only attraction is an oversized cathedral on the Way of St. James, and some tourist shops for decorative arts (if you like that). Rural exodus is unmistakable, there are several buildings for sale, and the ladies who run the hotel where we stayed told us that the village has only 70 regular inhabitants left, the rest are pilgrims and tourists. We only stayed for one night, passing through on our way back home, and for us it was perfect as it was. The hotel (Les Glycines) was great, very recommendable, the surrounding landscape is beautiful and possibly nice to explore wandering (we didn't try). Vézelay also seems to be a hot spot for pilgrims who find company there.Guest review bySusanneGermany - 6.0

Tonnerre as a town or destination offers almost nothing - it has the Fosse and an interesting old church, but that's it. However, it is close to other towns such as Auxerre, Chablis, and attractions such as Chateau Tanlay.Guest review byChristopherFrance - 10.0

An authentic small city in Burgundy that has not been overrun by tourism. Right on the Yonne river, it has beautiful old buildings, a great covered market, and good food and wine, of course. A lovely place.Guest review bymicheleUnited States - 10.0
Lovely walks down by the river and up to the church.
Lovely walks down by the river and up to the church. Walking down was easier but taking time to walk up is the answer. Some excellent restaurants and bars. Nice atmosphere in the town and we didn’t feel on edge at all. Some pleasant shops to browse.Guest review byJanetUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We felt Sens was a lovely town, lots to do, places to eat and drink and plenty of culture, parcs and gardens. We found a lovely mix of people living there and also visiting like us. Local activities were plentiful, from a beer festival to the very good Saturday food market which offered voucher incentives. We loved the atmosphere from the Tabacs to the bistro which offered lovely food. The tourist information centre was very helpful and we hired bicycles, which was fun exploring along the river Yonne. We enjoyed seeing and hearing the nightly starling murmurations.Guest review byAnnie - 10.0
