I didn’t really see much of Torver other than where we stayed (wilson’s arms) - and this was lovely! What I did like about where we stayed in Torver - it was only a 10 minute drive from Coniston - away from the hustle and bustleGuest review bySianUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Love Coniston, returning regularly.
Love Coniston, returning regularly. Plenty of interesting places to go nearby, great walks from here. Very good pubs and local shops. I ate in self catering flat. The lake is a must, self drive boats and charted trips. Ducks and swans, the amazing cafe by the lake seems to grow each year. I recall when it was a small green tin shack. You can walk round the village with ease. History is interesting.Guest review byMaryUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We liked the food, (we had scampi and the fish). We ate in the pub part. The pub/ drinks, and the room was very good. Nice, friendly staff and atmosphere. The ensuite was too warm with a very hot radiator! We would stay there again and recommend to others. Good value!Guest review byBoore - 10.0

There is much to enjoy at Coniston from local walks around the lake as well as trail walks and peak climbing, the local area is steeped in history and the village a joy to walk around. The Ruskin Museum was very interesting and provided an appreciation for past historical local identity and future opportunities, the entrance fee was more than reasonable and the information relating to Coniston of greater appreciation for its significance throughout the Lake District.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The countryside and roads around Torver are stunning, there are vistas all around. It is ideally situated for hiking etc. The village itself is little more than a linear collection of houses, with one pub and one deli. This isn't an issue as Coniston is a short drive away and features all the shops you could realistically need. If walking, expect around a 1.5 to 2 hour round trip. The main road through the village is a 40mph zone, however some of the locals do like to put their foot down, and some of their vehicles can be quite noisy, so it was not always as quiet as we had assumed it would be, however this didn't significantly impact our enjoyment of staying in Torver. Overall it is a great location from which to enjoy the Lake District.Guest review bybrooks
