'Gwesty Ty Newydd' is a very lovely and comfortable hotel in the small village of Aberdaron, located directly at the beach. After a long day of walking the Wales Coast Path, my room was so much more than what I'd ever imagined. Comfy, relaxing, and only a few meters from the sea... All the staff were, typically Welsh, very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was cooked to perfection. And, if you get the chance, give the inhouse restaurant a try for tea / dinner and a local ale - you will definitely not regret it! Highly recommended!

The staff were absolutely great and went out of their way to accommodate every wish we had and to help with advice on local attractions and public transport. Breakfast was also excellent - the service and the food (fresh fruit, great choice of cooked breakfast items, pastry etc). The staff were very attentive and always made sure that there was enough of everything on the buffet. Our room was tastefully decorated and the reception / lounge area was also very beautiful. Parking was also good. The hotel is very conveniently located for the town centre as it is only a very short walk to pubs and restaurants. We had a nice meal one evening in the hotel restaurant. We would have gone again but the restaurant was closed due to staff shortages. This was clearly communicated in advance of our stay so we knew about it and it wasn’t a problem at all.

Staff were amazing, all so friendly. We were checked in by the owner (we only found this out later when talking to other staff) We spent a lot of time say in the car talking to the staff and builders who gave recommendations of places to eat The view from the room over the ocean was amazing, and we could clearly see the castle too. I spent all morning sat in the window looking over the ocean. Beds were so comfy and I loved the size of the room and a great shower too

Appreciated the effort and care all staff took to make sure our stay was welcoming, comfortable, and suitable for a young family of 5, who also have food allergies. The free upgrade upon arrival to their suite with a whirlpool bath was completely unexpected and the kids enjoyed their bath night very much! After a long day of travelling, the staff were more than happy to offer a hand wherever possible from carrying our bags in, finding us a charging point and car park, and making sure their menu and kitchen were prepared for us to order allergy (and child) friendly food! A big thank you again!

The lodge is located just outside of the main area of the town, so it's both quiet - and convenient. The building is old and quiant, but the interior is tastefully decorated, and the rooms are renovated in the best possible way, with all the amenities and comforts characteristic of a modern hotel. Annie is exemplary host, gracious and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully served.

Wonderfully clean, mega comfy bed. Awesome restaurant staff friendly, professional, and attentive. The chefs did themselves proud. An absolute 10/10 for my 3 course dinner and bottle of red wine. Great breakfast, too. Simply gutted, there weren't more than 7 rooms available (for my group trip next, requiring 11 rooms)

With several heritage railways in close proximity and access by train, Porthmadog should be a must on any Train enthusiast ‘List of places to go’. My son has been talking about the FFestiniog railway (Rheilffyrdd FFestiniog ac Eryri) for many years. We were finally able to make the trek and we were excited to see it all. We could have spent 3-4 days going on the different excursions. Plan on getting into the Boston Lodge railway works for a tour there also.

Criccieth is worth a visit. Residents very helpful and friendly. Quite hilly in parts. Beach was lovely and clean. Take shop opening times with a pinch of salt 😉 A small, quiet village feel but enough to keep you occupied.

My family originated from Nefyn and I had lost a great great grandfather to a shipwreck off Anglesey( the Royal Charter). The Maritime Museum was good and I enjoyed the Bara Brith. The beach was stunning even with the wind and rain. The sunny day we left in showed us the interchange between sea and hills and the dazzling bright colours of the foliage. Loved the sheep and cattle too in the fields.
