- From US$173.67 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 604 reviewsIt's a great little place, just a short walk from the Ferry terminal. Their restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday but there was a complimentary bowl of fruit which was a nice touch. I liked that there was a "residents lounge" which, had I stayed more than one night, I would have definitely used it more. It was quiet, comfortable and a safe place to leave my luggage after checking out for the daytime before I got my bus.Guest review byGailCanada
- From US$367.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 444 reviewsEverything about the place was amazing, the unique setting of the castle, the attention to detail was incredible and management were so responsive and welcoming. A fantastic location for exploring not only Stornoway but Lewis and Harris. The small fridge in the room was so handy for keeping snacks for day trips. The best nights sleep in the comfiest bed.Guest review byKateIreland

Stornoway is a busy wee town full of independent shops.
Stornoway is a busy wee town full of independent shops. I particularly like An Taigh Ceilidh where you are encouraged to practise your Gàidhlig. Only downside there are a few one-way streets which are confusing / frustrating if you don't know where you're going.Guest review byHallinan - 10.0
Hen way b&b was lovely.
Hen way b&b was lovely. Joe was kind and thoughtful to our needs. He went out of his way to help Giving us detailed ideas on the best sights to visit. The cottage is small but the breakfasts were massive Full Scottish breakfast has 8 different food on the plate.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

A stunningly beautiful area, used it as a base to explore the whole of Lewis and Harris. Lots of single track roads which give the passenger lots of time to take in the stunning views. The roads are very quiet, and everyone is courteous and gives way in the plentiful passing places. You'll get friendly waves when you give way. I would love to come again and spend more time just enjoying the views and the birdsong. Highly recommend the Ravenspoint Visitor Centre - wildlife watching, self-service cafe where you pay a donation, lovely museum of local life, staffed by friendly and very informative volunteers.Guest review byJulia - 8.0

It’s an ideal location to explore the island with a fascinating history. There’s a cafe, but I didn’t try it. It’s a place going through a change now, with a lot of young trees growing and some pretty gardens.Guest review byStephenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Uig is full of lovely walks and beaches, and there is plenty of wildlife, we got views of white tailed eagles, and seals. Seatrek located nearby was fantastic, offering trips around the lagoon and out to the natural arches.Guest review byRogerUnited Kingdom - 8.0

This review is more about Lewis and Harris, Sandwick is a small suburb of Stornaway. It has an interesting memorial to HMS Iolaire. We spent 4 nights on the island. Although the weather was pretty awful, the island is lovely and we spent a fair bit of time touring Lewis and Harris. The Butt of Lewis is nice and there is a lovely walk to Eoropie bay with lovely sandy beach. We are interested in birds and found Red necked Phalorope, GND, Red throated Diver, Golden Eagle, Guillemots, Fulmars etc. Take the drive across Pentland Road it is lovely and good for birds. Sadly we didn't really have raptor weather (lots of rain). Stornaway is a bit limited - if you want to dine out book well ahead as there aren't many places and they fill up quickly. We enjoyed the Boatshed at the Royal Hotel for dinner. EVERYTHING closes on Sunday (including most of the petrol stations so beware).Guest review byPaul A. MooreUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We loved our accommodation at Coleil Cottage and the area in general. It was a good base for travelling to the North or South of the island. Being next to the coast, it was a great area for whale and dolphin watching. There were many wild birds, including cuckoos and even rabbits and chickens in our garden.Guest review byGillUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Trish and Stewart were were hospitable hosts , an immaculately decorated and presented B&B , very much different from the 1960s when I toured with my parents. We would highly recommend 43 to coming guests.Guest review byColinUnited Kingdom - 6.0

There’s not much to see and do in Stornoway but it is an excellent base for exploring Lewis and Harris. It was easy to reach the main tourist spots of Ness, Callanish, Carloway and Gearrannan Blackhouse Village. Also not far to experience the stunning scenery of Harris including the famous Luskentyre Beach. In Stornoway itself, the walk to the Iolaire Monument and the visit to the Lewis Castle Museum were both worth doing. The best place for lunch was Lantair.Guest review byIsobelUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The Lochs is an extraordinarily beautiful mixture of scattered small villages, small hills, big hills and (unsurprisingly!) lochs and lochans. It has a very interesting history and great walking tracks and paths.Guest review byAlistairUnited Kingdom
