Corfu is one of my favorite Mediterranean cities with a perfect combination of charm and history, located right on the Ionian Sea near Italy. My second visit was as lovely as my first. The history and culture are fantastic. It has Greek charm with a wonder British Colony flare. The people are lovely, the food is fantastic, and reasonably priced. We didn't have a bad meal the entire trip. There is much to do and definitely worth venturing out to other parts of the island--either via an excursion, or just renting a car and driving around. The "pirate" ship and hop on, hop off buses are a great way to get a quick overview. We were also able to visit a spa for some much needed relaxation.Guest review byLisa - 10.0

A lovely town - definitely tourist central (main source of income) but there is so much more than "downtown" madness lol - Take a long walk to Turtle Island (go early to get your spot on the small beach, entrance fee of around Euro6). Hike the side roads admiring the olive trees and farm animals. Rent a quad or car and explore further afield. Tour pickups are readily available. The food, coffee and drinks are delicious and within reason depending on what you care to spend - LOVED the icecream cafe close to the beach and there is a delightful European Bakery to enjoy fresh cream or chocolate yummies. Almost everyone is friendly - like everywhere, if you smile and 'ask" courteously, in return you will receive a positive response! Paleokastritsa comprises a number of mid to small sized "beaches" though some are no more than a few rocks or pebbles. The water, as with the rest of the island, is crystal clear and deliciously warm, ideal for snorkeling or diving. Argostoli is a sizable city.
Argostoli is a sizable city. It has nice restaurants, shops and resources, but not what I came to a Greek Island to do. The rest of Kefalonia has many wonderful, picturesque villages and beaches with quaint restaurants and places to explore. Really gorgeous, quite substantial town with lots of very nice shops and restaurants. There is a beach just out of town which I didn’t visit so can’t comment on that. We went on the Odysseus boat trip which was excellent. This is a great place if you like boats. A hire car is needed if you want to get to the excellent beaches to the west and south. Very central to visit Corfu town by bus €1.60 e.w. for a day trip, gouvia is lovely, gr8 restaurants, fresh food & the beach was lovely, every restaurant we ate in was delish, especially the chinese restaurant, ooh and the bar with the Elvis tribute was brilliant and reasonably priced for drinks too. If you like to be in the center of the action (restaurants, bars, night life), Tsilivi is a good spot. If you are searching for something more relaxed, i advise to search for other locations in the island. Lots of bars, restaurants (recommend The Hive) and souvenir shops as you would expect along a 'strip' but there are quieter places alongside the beach. Plenty to see in and around the local area such as Cape Drastis, the Canal D'Amour and Porto Timoni. If travelling the north coast to Sidari, watch out for mobile signal as it dips in and out of Albania's signal and you could face unexpected roaming charges.
