Underrated Greek venue that deserves more. A town where all ages could live a very happy life. I felt safe and in peace for myself and my child, my beloved. Beach and sea area - kept intact as much as possible in nowadays common nonsense worldwide. This was my second time in Kavala, but only for one night. Last year we stayed 2 nights, maybe next time we could stay longer, as it has everything you need for a cosy vacation, wonderful restaurants, friendly people, beaches around and in Kavala will make your summer vacation wonderful, in spring or autumn would it be also nice. Limenas is the best location to stay in Thassos especially if you have kids. Everything is near walking distance restaurants and supermarkets. Beautiful beaches. Amazing fresh fish. Potos is a lively town with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants. The beach is large and had sun beds that are usually free with a purchase, and the hospitality staff were friendly and helpful. Potos is a great location and is in near reach to other places, usually around a 10/20 minute drive. It is close to Theologos, Giola and other nice beaches including Notos and Rosogremos (both beautiful beaches). A small port village that is just starting to develop as an independent resort. The beaches are great - wide, long, with nice sand and shallow shores. There are large free areas, as well as areas with sun loungers. There is plenty of parking space (this was in September). The village itself is quiet - as if you are walking through a nice residential area. All stores, pastry shops, restaurants and fast food places are located on the main street, which is also the ferry port for Thassos. Unfortunately, the main street in question is quite unmaintained, there are no normal sidewalks, it is difficult to walk along it. This location is a gem. Beach is awesome, you can travel to other locations, food is out of this world. Value for dollar is magic. The best food for the least cost. How this can be? The souvlaki at ZIAFET GYROS, GRILL, ruined all souvlaki for me. Their staff is out of this world. Unfair. They made us go back night after night, even when we wanted to try other places. The main city beach is crowded, with sun loungers literally touching the water. Further away, there is a nice wild beach, but you have to walk quite a distance to get there. Xanthe is charming: the old town was quaint and picturesque, and the people of Xanthe extremely friendly and helpful. The town is full of enormous plane trees providing beaty and shade, and is circled by dramatic mountains. I was there to settle my son into college, and it feels very folksy and safe, and small-town friendly. I look forward to spending more time exploring in subsequent visits.Guest review byVaughan
