We liked visiting the Duomo—we accessed it using the Culture Pass (Duomo, Museum, Crypt, Archaeological site). We went at 9am, which allowed us to see the sites at the cathedral before attending Mass at 11am which was really special even though we couldn’t understand the homily due to our limited Italian. If you are there on the first Sunday of the month, check out the Sforza Castle museums for free; be sure to arrive between 10 and 4 to get in. Our favorite meal was at Antica Hosteria della Lanterna near the city center for set-price lunches (€11) and reasonably priced dinners (primi from €10, secondi from €16, heavenly tiramisu for €4). We also loved Trattoria San Filippo Neri for a cool, buzzy atmosphere in an outdoor courtyard with heaters—go for apertivo with €5 drinks and fritti for two for under €10, stay because the vibes are so good. Service was also great. We recommend using public transit—their tap on/tap off system works with contactless cards for a convenient experience, or tickets are available at every metro station.Guest review byElizabethUnited States - 10.0

Even in the so-called shoulder season Venice is mobbed with tourists. Our first hours in and near San Marco square were very off-putting. BUT moving beyond San Marco the crowds really thin out. And when the experts say just walk, get lost and discover the Venice of the locals--they know what they're talking about. We always dined in smaller restaurants on small squares or narrow passages; they were busy with locals and tourists but offered quiet and a more personal touch. We found the opulence of the Doge Palace so over the top as to be off-putting. And be forewarned: once you start the tour there's no going back: and it's a long tour.Guest review byJohn - 10.0

Pleasant city to walk around. Elegant architecture and good shops if you like that; Egyptian Museum certainly large scale; Lingotto district (old Fiat factory) interesting and quieter. The feeling you stay in an old and new place ,like a history travel.Very clean and friendly city.Pet friendly. Beatiful small taverns ,cafe with tables outside. Lot of shops.And if you have some hours to spent before your flight back, you can go to Orio center Mall , a super Mall with anything you like inside,only 5 minutes from the Airport Arrivals. Como boasts of an interesting city centre which can be explored in about 2 days , together with a beautiful lakeside promenade ideal for a walk, a couple of parks and a few stunning villas by the lake. It is also a good base from which one can explore the picturesque towns and villages on the lake. However being at the southern tip of the lake, travelling to the northern part of the lake or the Lecco branch of the lake takes quite a long time. Plenty of restaurants which can be a bit pricey, but the food is delicious. Sirmione was a real find for Lake Garda.
Sirmione was a real find for Lake Garda. It has the amazing old town with its cobbled streets and history, but also has the newer town which has loads of restaurants and shops, as well as the marina. It is really easy to get to other parts of the lake from Sirmione, either by car or by boat, so it was a great base.
