This is one of the most unique hotels we have ever stayed in - I would highly recommend Aquatio. You are within 5 minutes walking distance to pretty much anything in Matera and 2-3 minutes walk to the fabulous restaurant Francesca (we dined there twice it was so fantastic). We also used the spa to get a couples massage and my partner used the water therapies. The front desk staff were fantastic before and during our stay - they really helped us to arrange parking, the shuttle to and from the hotel to our parking spot and other requests we had like booking restaurants for us. A true concierge experience! You will thoroughly enjoy your stay. We will be back!

The greeting was extremely warmful; prior to that, the staff had arranged the parking and shuttle very efficiently (you cannot park in the Sassi in Matera). In the heart of an amazing town, the hotel is just fabulous (the "caves" have been turned into wonderful sleeping alcoves and rooms), and the staff is always there to help --with a smile! Don't miss it.

The hotel is AMAZING!! For those who love the history, definitely must go here.. they offer you an immersion activity from Ancient Greek era. All rooms are authentic, original.. just like back on the past ancient time. Experiencing become one of Greek citizen with all the traditional food and beverages. They give you all day music concert and explanation of Greek culture heritage. The position was perfect in the heart of old town sassi matera, close to the restaurants, bar and not far from all the point of interest. And the most interesting thing is the ancient bath, so rarely you can find ancient Roman/greek bath in the world but in this hotel you can experience it lively!!! Really recommend for those who love to explore and become travelers! Not as usual tourist that just spend the night to stay and search for comfortable and hope to save money. What I could say more.. one of the Best for boutique hotels and experience!

The front desk staff was always helpful, and a special thank you to Carmen, who assisted us with every request. She also recommended Andrea, who gave us a wonderful tuk-tuk tour of the city at sunset. The shuttle service was convenient, and the hotel's location was absolutely perfect, offering easy access to everything. As a five-star hotel, it certainly lived up to its reputation, and we had an amazing time. Highly recommended!

    Beautiful Masseria near Matera. Big and lovely room and bathroom. 4 bottles of water and coffee complimentary daily in the room. This is so nice! Breakfast was the best we had in Italy with fruits, cold cuts, eggs, breads, fresh juices, cakes, yogurt and cheese cake made in the farm. Beatrice and Pasquale are very nice and helpfull.     There were more than enough beds for the three of us at this accommodation. There was also a coffee machine there but couldn't see any coffee pods or coffee powder to make the coffee or how to use the machine, but it was great having it there.

    The Sassi is a must experience in your lifetime place!

    The Sassi is a must experience in your lifetime place! A TukTuk tour is best if you have mobility issues as did a family member. The local wines and cuisine Materana are delicious and Restaurante Stano is a very good choice for an elegant evening out. Get up early and walk around the circumference of the Sassi before everyone else gets there, it’s magical. We missed the cistern tour due to a film being shot so if it’s open you must go down.

    A very interesting place with lots to see. Take good walking shoes, if you can, as there is a rocky trail from the town that we didn’t try as we didn’t have good footware. We weren’t lucky with our choice of eateries but were assured that others had been.
