Beautiful traditional Italian seaside town with plenty of interesting things to visit. La Pigna (the old town) is an interesting climb through small alleyways and gates. The Russian Orthodox church is small but perfectly formed. Villa Nobel is an interesting science museum & a beautiful villa to see from the outside. There is a 30km cycle and walking track running along the seafront, an old converted train track with plenty of cycle hire places along the way. Plenty of nice places nearby if you have a hire car. it is a historic town with old buildings, au on a heel, like a fortress. Unfortunately the buildings are not renovated and most of them look pretty bad. Otherwise it is a typical italian area (the old town) where you can see the way they live, the. way they interact with eachother. Liguria is nice. Different than Adriatic coast, wery well worth exploring in slow pace. Everything seemed calmer, and easy going, water was crystal clear and warm. Sanremo city itself is very disappointing.
Sanremo city itself is very disappointing. Streets and sea promenade are very dirty, stinky and overcrowded, sea is green, polluted, swimming caused allergies on my skin. The air in the city is extremely polluted as well: a lot of bikes and cars, very stressful. Food in the restaurants is not tasty, average, in some of them it is impossible to eat at all. I don't recommend to visit Sanremo to anyone, because it is waste of money, spoiled vacation, for a crazy big price.Guest review byKate - 10.0

It is nice and relaxing to stay in the old town, as well as near the centre for the train station. You see both sides of the same town and the 2 languages of Italian and French (I speak both, so this is great). I think Ventimiglia is a hidden gem - very close to both Sanremo and Menton! The two halves of Imperia - Oneglia and Porto Maurizio - are different and both are worth exploring on foot. Lots of historic streets and coastal and mountain views. Porto Maurizio has a self guiding tour with information boards to follow. Imperia isn’t too big or busy which was nice for us. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Villa Grock clown museum was bizarrely fascinating and well worth the walk up the steep hill. It has a cafe to reward your effort!
