A very interesting city beautifully located on the coast. A wonderful place for people interested in ancient history - it was full of antiquities. Ortigia (walking distance from Siracusa) is very pretty and interesting. Lots of palaces and churches everywhere. A foodie's paradise. The people were very nice. Trapani is a small city which deserves exploring and getting to know. Lots of hidden gems and beautiful sights. The Museum of Optical Illusions is great. Trapani is a good base for exploring the area by car or public transport. Beautiful town, full of life at night. Easily walkable, flat streets. Beach is nice and long, with multiple free areas. It's a gorgeous scene with the huge mountains, and lighthouse at the other end. Ragusa has good infrastructure for a holiday - insofar as there are cafés and restaurants at various price points and plenty of baroque buildings, particularly in Ibla, that make it a very attractive place to stay (this was our second visit). It is handily placed for day trips to the other cities of Southern Baroque Sicily (Scicli, Modica, Noto and Syracusa) but it should be remembered that Sicily is a huge island and therefore Ragusa is by no means a convenient jumping off point for cities in the North (Taormina, Palermo etc.) The island has so much to commend it that it would be daft to try and tick everything off during a single visit in any case.
