- From US$1,645.39 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 988 reviewsArima Onsen is close to Kobe, but has a nice countryside feel about it. Our room was much larger than expected, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the onsen was very good, with the famous Arima golden water (salty and with high iron content). A nice detail in the onsen was that the gender seperating wall was lower at the end, enabling a conversation with my wife. The food was also very good, we stayed 2 nights and had 1 night dinner and breakfast in our room (for an extra charge). The ryokan also offers a free shuttle to the Arima Ropeway and to the railway station. The salon was also nice with free coffee and lots of books and a high-end tube amplifier. The building is wooden and old, so expect to hear some noise from your neighbours, but nothing too bad.Guest review byJeroenNetherlands
- From US$308.09 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 5 reviewsBeautiful location and a special place, very family friendly. Onsen was lovely and the water left our hair and skin so soft! Amenities were high quality and skin care lotions all provided for a full onsen and ryokan experience. Yakatas were beautiful and sizes for whole family. We really enjoyed the traditional Japan experience and beautiful tatami room with amazing view of the mountains. We wanted to stay another night.Guest review byErinaAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 190 reviewsThe facilities are very perfect. Ie. shuttle bus from/to hotel to train station and ropeway, varieties of gold and silver onsens in one place are stunning we didn’t have to go other onsens to try both of them. Dinner and breakfast are excellence. Staffs at front and dining room are very professional and great service mind.Guest review byPraweenaThailand

Kobe is a great city to visit.
Kobe is a great city to visit. A vibrant, buzzing and cosmopolitan city with memorable features such as the ropeway to the herb garden at the JR Shin Kobe Station at Sannomiya (an absolute must for visitors), the Maya cable car and ropeway and the Akashi bridge to Awaji Island.Guest review byPeterAustralia - 10.0
Great city.
Great city. I enjoyed visiting this city, especially the Himeji Castle. This was the third times I visit Himeji Castle. Public transportation was convenient. I would recommend spending at least two full days at this city.Guest review byC.-C.Taiwan - 10.0
Kinosaki onsen is a charming small town.
Kinosaki onsen is a charming small town. Most of the tourists were Japanese who come to the hot springs. Most people are dressed in traditional yukatas and walk around the town in them and wooden sandals. We also took a short train ride to Takeno Beach a beautiful beach on the sea of Japan.Guest review byJulio FCanada - 8.0

I visited the theme park Nijigen No Morii with Naruto and Dragonquest Island and both was amazing. Ill definitely come Back to the Park. It's a bit tricky to get around with the local (limited) buses as there run only about once every hour so a rental car ist the better option. From Iwaya Port theres a Shuttle bus to Nijigen No Morii and the hello Kitty sites, it's free and stops on a couple of sites along the route. The Shuttle operates from 10am to 9pm.Guest review byNicoleGermany - 10.0

Amagasaki is a great 'real' town so close to Osaka, but with its own character. We saw a diverse mix of people from all walks of life. Working class, business people, skateboarders, old people playing ukelele in the park. There is a nice old shopping street which is not to be missed. Some good old 'Showa' era coffee shops. We didn't get to do half the things we planned. Will be back!Guest review byPatrickSouth Korea - 8.0

It is sad to see dying city, even small one.
It is sad to see dying city, even small one. Nothing to do there, difficult to find a nice place to eat even food prices are high. Ohama beach is nice, however there are some creatures in the sea which sting you. Overrated place to visit.Guest review byIrinaJapan - 10.0
Located in Hyogo Prefecture along the Seto Inland Sea,...
Located in Hyogo Prefecture along the Seto Inland Sea, Akashi is a charming coastal city known for its outstanding seafood and relaxed atmosphere. While it may not be as famous as nearby Kobe or Osaka, Akashi offers a deliciously authentic experience that’s hard to beat. One of the city’s signature dishes is Akashiyaki—soft, egg-rich dumplings filled with tender octopus. Unlike Osaka’s takoyaki, Akashiyaki is gently dipped in warm dashi broth, highlighting the freshness of the seafood. Akashi is especially known for its high-quality octopus (madako). Thanks to the area’s fast tidal currents, the octopus here grows firm and flavorful, making it a prized ingredient across Japan. Local fish markets also showcase an incredible selection of fresh anago (conger eel) and Akashi-dai (sea bream), straight from the surrounding waters. Whether you enjoy sushi, grilled fish, or something uniquely local, Akashi will leave you more than satisfied. It’s the perfect spot for travelers who want to explore Japan’s culinary diversity beyond the big cities. Discover Akashi—where the sea meets tradition, and every bite tells a story.Guest review byNaoJapan - 4.0
Kobe is known for Kobe Beef.
Kobe is known for Kobe Beef. Unfortunately this highly priced wagyu is exported to 5 star hotels, top restaurants in Kyoto and Tokyo, or overseas. Sad that many of the wagyu restaurants are not serving the famed high-end Kobe wagyu. It is busy metropolis, but less crowded than nearby Osaka. As the city is built on hills and mountains, the local hiking culture and sudden panoramic views are both delights. There is not much in terms of local culture or cuisine, besides some western influence as shown in the architecture of few buildings and an abundance of pâtissiers.Guest review byJoshua HughSingapore - 6.0

Himeji is obviously very famous for its castle, but other than that lacks many things to do. I found my time there to be rather boring, and we often struggled to find activities to fill our nights with. We used Himeji as a central location to take day trips from - since we booked during Golden Week, hotel prices in more ideal areas, such as Kobe, were heavily inflated and unreasonable.Guest review byJacob
