- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 331 reviewsMy partner (now my wife) and I have always loved the view of the iconic torii gate in Miyajima. While looking for a highly rated hotel in the area, we came across ITSUKUSHIMA IROHA and decided it would be the perfect place to celebrate her birthday, and secretly, I was planning to propose to her on that special day. I initially reached out to the hotel just to ask if they offered any simple in-room proposal decorations. To my surprise, Haruka and Yuriko responded with so much enthusiasm and so many thoughtful ideas — from how to hide the ring box, to when they could prepare the room while we were out, to setting up a beautiful arrangement. On top of all that, they even upgraded our room as a surprise. It was all far more than I ever expected. A huge thank you to Haruka, Yuriko, and everyone at ITSUKUSHIMA IROHA. Your kindness, genuine warmth, and incredible attention to detail made this such an unforgettable experience for us. We’ll always remember how you helped us on one of the most important days of our lives — and we absolutely plan to come back. As for the hotel itself: the location couldn’t be better, just a short walk from Itsukushima Shrine. It means you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and stunning views both early in the morning and later at night. Our room was elegantly designed, with top-quality amenities and one of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept on. And the meals — dinner and breakfast — were as delicious as they were beautifully presented. This is the most memorable and enjoyable hotel stay I’ve ever had. I wholeheartedly recommend ITSUKUSHIMA IROHA to anyone looking for a truly special, relaxing experience in Miyajima.Guest review by雍淵Taiwan
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 2,206 reviewsi stayed 1 night with the hotel. although it was quite far from the port, i didnt feel the difference with the hotel shuttle bus. the staff came and took our baggage after we called so that we can walk around the street and the bus was magically there when the shopping street closes which was very thoughtful. the staff even recognise us as we met for a few mins when handing the bags to him. when we check in, slippers were prepared, bags in our room and aircon turned on. room was spacious and had great view. dinner was fantastic as well and beds were prepared for us after dinner. There were night buses so that we could see the tori gate lit up. when we went out of the hotel, the staff could even bring out our shoes before we requested. i enjoyed the stay because of the staff there and would like to thank all staff for the thatGuest review bySoopingSingapore
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 702 reviewsAn absolutely beautiful traditional ryokan set right on the edge of the park and surrounded by gardens. When I arrived, I received such a warm welcome and was escorted to my room and given tea, a snack, clothing and towels for my stay. My room was spacious and tastefully decorated - seating area by the window was a highlight to sit at in the morning and write or read, surrounded by trees and nature. The onsen was immaculately clean and relaxing. I was a little nervous about the traditional kaiseki dinner and breakfast because I’ve never tried anything like that before, but it was delicious and thoughtfully presented. The service was exceptional and it was great having the same host for both dinner and breakfast.Guest review byRachelUnited Kingdom
- From US$740.07 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,184 reviewsWe had the special guest room - wonderful view on the sea, the Tori and the mountains, lot of natural light & space, a bathtub in the room to take a hot bath (in addition to the private 30mn per room at the outdoor bath). Japanese dîner was delicious, the staff very professionnal, attentionate and caring all along our stay. The hôtel made sure to look for our luggages - either to collect them for us at the ferry pier when we arrived and to bring them back at the pier when taking our ferry to leave the Island - allowing us not to have to carry them and enjoy the walk and our day in the Island What a beautiful moment !Guest review byLUCILEFrance
- From US$339.09 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.2Good - What previous guests thought, 946 reviewsThe hotel was expensive but offers a great experiment and the luxury to enjoy Miyajima on the evening, without the crow and enjoy the sunset and sunrise on the island. To room was huge and very clean, the bed very confortable. The hotel have a whole floor dedicated to well-being, with a salon, onsen, exterior pool, rock bath, karaoke room... That you can access anytime on the opening hour. They have also kimono at disposition at the entry, a little shop on the 1st floor.Guest review byBéatriceFrance
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 2,201 reviewsWe felt like home. The staffs are nice and gave us very clear instructions and showed us around the property. The guest house is quiet though central located. Just a few minutes walk to the shrine and the sea. We followed the Google map and walked along the seaside and it’s not difficult to find. We met few friendly deers along the way near the guest house. We will returned soon to revisit this lovely island.Guest review bywhHong Kong
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 442 reviewsAway from the crowds - definitely one of the best hotels of our stay in Japan. The room was spacious and very well equipped. All you need after a great day outside Miayajima is your yukata, your basket full of bath products to chill and relax in the onsen. Amazing japanese breakfast awaits you downstairs in the morning. Bonus : prepare yourself, the onsen is unbelievable!Guest review byChloéFrance
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 914 reviewsAway from the bustle of the main street which means you would have to be ready to walk a bit more or take a island can if you are not calling the hotel to pick you. If you know how to contact them for pick up, it'll be great!! For the price you pay, it's great value as it comes with dinner and breakfast. Both meals were 9/10!Guest review byChungSingapore

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.Guest review byDonnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It was my second trip to Miyajima island.
It was my second trip to Miyajima island. The first time I only travelled their with my wife and we did not stay in any accommodation. I left back on the ferry same day feeling that I had to eventually return. I was able to do that and I loved every moment. It's an island I would consider going back too again and staying over again. The island offers so much. For those that want heritage and history, tick. For those that want a close encounter with a deers, tick. For those who love calm beaches or mountains, tick. For those that want experiences with friendly locals, tick. Those wanting to do shopping, especially souveniours, tick. For those who want physical activity, the walking trails up the mountain are a definite tick. I could go on, but, for so many reasons I love and would highly recommend travel to Miyajima.Guest review byAdamAustralia - 10.0
Miyajima is simply magical!
Miyajima is simply magical! From the moment you step off the ferry, you’re surrounded by stunning natural beauty, peaceful shrines, and the famous floating torii gate—it truly feels like stepping into a sacred, timeless world. One of the most enchanting parts of the island was wandering through the smaller shrines tucked into the forest, where rows of little Buddha statues wear hand-knitted red hats and bibs. There’s something incredibly touching and serene about them—like the whole island is wrapped in quiet reverence. Add in the friendly deer, delicious street food (don’t miss the grilled oysters and momiji manju!), and the breathtaking views from Mount Misen, and Miyajima easily became one of our favorite places in Japan. I didn’t want to leave!Guest review byMichelleNew Zealand
