Very clean and Simple modern design. Prices are reasonable. I hardly find a Japanese style TATAMI room for single person anywhere else inJapan. Some rooms haven’t a shower but you can use ONSEN ( hot springs). The ROTEN BURO ( outside hot springs) is cosy but beautiful. They provide japanese wears after having a hot spring. Hotel Staff provided great service.

Clean, cheap, closest to a fish market. Washing machines and dryers for 300yen for 60 mins. AC works good, room was good enough to rest. 5 mins walk from Kii Katsuura station was not far. The hotel is about 20 min walk from the train station but they have a free shuttle which made it perfectly convenient. It was absolutely worth being slightly further away as the hotel is located on a small cove which feels like you have private access to the sea and gives beautiful views from the rooms! There is an indoor and outdoor onsen (natural hot spring baths) both with lovely views and a comfortable temperature, with complimentary amenities. We had breakfast and one dinner at the hotel and everything was delicious, generous portions with attention given to seasonal and local produce. They were also able to cater to our dietary requirements (pescatarian and scallop allergy) well. At one point one of our party suffered a burn (NOT the hotel’s fault) and the staff were so helpful in providing us what we needed and were very kind.

The place is just amazing! There are not enough good words about this place. It is placed in this amazing peninsula with one side facing the ocean. There is also a small park on the top which you can enjoy. Also, the hotel is soooo huge that you don’t have to even leave it during your stay - you can go shopping, enjoy the arcades, massages, onsens.. Couple onsens are just in the big caves and you can observe the ocean waves just crashing in front of it while enjoying the warm water in the baths. Breakfast buffet is wide for everyone’s taste. Staff is always helpful and friendly. I hope I will be back in this place sometime! And I recommend everyone to visit ❤️

Everyone was great. They even picked me up from the nearest bus station outside check-in hours because I had some problems with my travel route 🥹 The next morning they drove me back to the station so I can catch my bus! The place was beautiful, homey, cozy. The view from the rooms and the onsen was stunning. The food was also delicious - perfect portions, perfectly cooked and salted, simply amazing! And the other people who stayed there were also very nice!

The staff came to pick us up at Hashimoto station mid-afternonn because it's really remote from anything and they dropped us at Koyasan the next day. We should have stayed for 2 nights instead of 1 because there is a lot to see in Koya san. The staff was extremely helpful and patient with us. They really took good care of us. The food was amazing ! They even adjusted to my seafood allergy. Thank you for your warm welcome !

Few minutes walk from the train station. And there are many buses from the train station to the attractions. Staff are excellent and always doing their best to serve. Room rate is reasonable and the public bath is a bonus. Mini mart, small restaurant and the laundromat are all in the same building.

The scenic mountains near the city offers stunning sunset views. The Sakura were in full bloom. There are several parks around the city, and the impressive Wakayama castle. The hotel (Candeo Hotels Nankai) is great value - fantastic river views, rooftop onsen that you can enjoy the sunset. And right at the Wakayama Station. Good dining options around the hotel too.

We are Americans so we had really little knowledge of Shirahama as a resort city. It was at the tail end of a 3 week tour of Japan and was very restful. Fortunately, we were there after Golden Week and before the main tourist season, so it was quiet and relaxing. We had fun over two nights at a local Turkish restaurant, Blue Bar. We'd recommend it. Also, the beach seemed quite nice although we had one day or rain so we didn't hang out there. While this wouldn't be a regular stop for Americans, I think it is worthwhile and an easy train ride to the airport in Osaka.

part of the kumano kodo must do destination ! it is a wonderful location with the shrine, a zen building of the heritage center and the torii gate, which also act as a bus stop too. The bus system is inadequate for so many visitors. I understand it is in a rural part of the Japanese town, but i am sure the bus company can regulate and insert a couple more bus departures during peak time. Surely they would have collected a historical data of peak passengers timing by now since this kumano kodo has been around for so long. So that it can provide a better service for the hikers

I spent one night in Kii-Katsuura after walking the Kumano Koda Daimon-Zaka section up to the Nachisan shrine and waterfall. It is a four hour train ride from Osaka but we’ll worth it to see this beautiful area in Japan. Just to warn you, the iconic red pagoda near the waterfall is currently being restored and is covered in tarpaulin until early next year. Katsuura is a sleepy fishing and onsen town. Visit the fishery on the port at 7am to see the daily tuna auction. A great experience is bathing in the cave onsen at Hotel Urashima on an Island five minutes by ferry from Katsuura.

Shingu is a small coastal town with few hills which is a wonderful to find after 10 days hiking on the mountainous Kumano Kodo pilgrimage walks. One of the 3 Great Shrines is here and very accessible whether walking or driving. Getting to and from Shingu is very easy with the train station and bus station being together in the center of town. It is a good base for reaching the other 2 Great Shrines of the Kumano Kodo at Hongu and Nachisan. There are a number of good eateries in the town but one of the joys was just wandering down laneways and discovering little gems not listed in the usual guides.

This is a very peaceful little town on the southeast coast of Kii Peninsula. The residents and store clerks are mostly senior citizens but they are polite and pleasant to meet. It’s the gateway to the Nashi area and the famous Kumano Kodo historical trail. You can also rent a bike at the Information Center next to the JR Kii Katsuura Station to quickly circle around town.

Our favorite point of this hotel is the food and the wooden house. The independent wooden house is perfect and cozy, suiting for family trip. With forest surrounding, you can enjoy the good quality of air and there's a river near by that you can enjoy the fun of water. The hot spring opening time is a bit tricky because it closed after 9:00 am and reopen at 14:00. If you only stay for one day you will need to seize your time to enjoy their hot spring. The restaurant use the fresh ingredients to make awesome food. Took a really really good rest here :D
