Huge landscape with a direct view to the most famous Sigiriya rock. My villa had its own plunge pool facing the jungle and I was so lucky to see elephants passing by while in it. This was truly an amazing experience. Villa is huge & spacious, very clean. Staff here is so friendly and very attentive to you. They will spoil you with their love and care, I will miss their beautiful smiles. Ayurveda treatments were exceptionally good. Therapist was so kind and did an amazing job. Had a lovely herbal bath which was so relaxing with zero disturbance as it was too facing the jungle, one can only hear birds. Meals & snacks were mouthwateringly tasty. They only serve very healthy options at meal times. I wish I had more time to spend here, but most certainly be back. As a result the hotel had a modernist but elegant feel about it. it was extremely peaceful and just about Zen like in character. I highly recommend staying there as to my mind it was an example of the best of modernist Srilankan design and architecture. It also had interesting art and quality furnishings. I’ll never forget the day we spent climbing Sigiriya.
I’ll never forget the day we spent climbing Sigiriya. And no wonder such a wonderful World Heritage Site kept popping up everywhere: Test it against the massive old fortress, the gorgeous frescoes, and images taken of landscapes from the summit, and there you’ll pick one of Sri Lanka’s greatest treasures. Not an easy or casual climb but certainly one that throws panoramic views so very far worth it and lucid into history at every step. Water gardens at the bottom quite worth a visit. One has to get there at dawn to avoid numerous tourists and scorching sun. Thus, in general, Sigiriya is a combination of artistic creation, engineering work of antiquity, and a miracle of nature, and a must-see site in Sri Lanka.Guest review byShironSri Lanka - 10.0

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. There is so much more to do in this area than I realised. I will definitely come back. The area is beautiful and we were sad to leave. We dud Pidurangala Rock which was fun, more of an adventurous climb than Lions Rock. It has incredible views of Lions Rock. We also did a safari in Minneriya National Park. The park was beautiful and we saw so many elephants plus lots of varieties of birds, golden jackals, monkees, mongoose, the grizzled giant squirrel, buffalo and jungle foul. We also went to Dambula Temple Caves which is very spiritual and Luckgrove Spice Gardens which was an incredible experience. Highly recommend this area.Guest review byHazelIreland - 10.0

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time.
