We had an incredible stay at Leel’s cottage. From the moment we arrived, Leel and his family gave us a warm welcome, personally guiding us to the beautiful rooms. Everything about our experience, from the cozy accommodations to the thrilling safari, exceeded our expectations. We had a beautiful stay at Amba Kola, a slice of paradise in the Udawalawa jungle. We originally booked for 1 night but as soon as we arrived we were so warmly welcomed and loved the look and feel so much that we extended our stay. Janik and his family were incredible hosts, they treated us like family. Amba Kola is perfectly located on the edge of the National Park, which made it super easy to access safari tours. Tours are available to book onsite with their recommended tour guide, who we found to be so helpful, spoke very good English, and was amazing at spotting all of the wildlife on safari and relaying information. We saw many elephants as well as peacocks, deer, crocodiles, chameleons, iguanas, and so many different species of birdlife. Our room at Amba Kola was very relaxing and comfortable, we really loved the extra touch of an outdoor shower. We had the best food of our whole trip during our stay here, it truly was amazing. Janik’s mother, Mama Swarna, makes beautiful authentic home cooked meals, made from home grown and locally sourced fresh ingredients, and served with love. We have not stoped raving about it yet! Mama Swarna is a top rated cook and also offers traditional cooking classes. Janik, Greshan, and Sanju were so warm and friendly from the moment we arrived. Some of the most generous and happiest people we have met. They went out of their way to show us many of the local sights, and were always checking in on us with a smile to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We loved spending time petting and playing with their lovely dogs and cats, chilling in the beautiful garden, and enjoying a cool beer of an afternoon while playing a game of chess before dinner. We would not change a thing about our stay, every aspect was tastefully thought out and we enjoyed every moment, but the thing that really stood out and made our experience so special was being treated as part of this beautiful family.

The rooms are beautiful and the staff is very friendly. We did the safari at the hotel and it was amazing. Our driver was very good and we saw a lot of elephants up close. Breakfast and dinner were both good. Near a beautiful river, designed with the environment in mind. Highly recommended for a few days stay.

The property is exceptionally clean. Pool was lovely. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable. The owner had 13 years experience as a safari guide. We went on a sunset tour with him which was amazing. His knowledge of the animals and birds kept us entertained and his enthusiasm was infectious. I highly recommend a stay here. Our favourite

We had an excellent stay. We are a family with 3 small children. We asked to arranged us a transfer from Ella to the accommodation and we got a lovely driver, he arrived on time, we highly recommend him and he also drove us to the next destination. We could just trust him for a safe trip and it was an excellent Van with air conditioning and room for all our things. The place arranged us a safari tour with the guide name Lasa. The owner of the place prepared an excellent meal for us for breakfast so that we could eat at the safari, a large and delicious breakfast.  The guide Lasa was really nice, helped with everything, explained everything, made us a really good and fun experience with the kids in the safari. We highly recommend to take him.  The restaurant in the hotel is tasty, we had both breakfast and lunch and everything was delicious. Everyone is so nice and helped with everything. Highly recommend to come for hospitality

We loved our stay! The Countryside Udawalawe is a lovely hotel with villas surrounding a pool and garden, calm and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were very nice - comfortable bed, good A/C and nice modern bathrooms. The management is amazing & organized - we had their driver bring us from Ella to Udawalawe, and then again from Udawalawe to Dikwella. The driver was great and the car very clean and comfortable. He was right on time and pointed out sites for us along the way. They also booked a private Jeep for a safari through Udawalawe Park, and they were very accommodating of our last minute change in plans. The safari driver/guide was excellent and made sure we saw lots of animals. The managers were always there when we came back to the hotel to make sure everything was going well, and we had a nice Sri Lankan dinner and breakfast there as well. Perfect location - very close to the Park and the Elephant Transit Home.

The rustic charm and quirkiness of the treehouse exceeded expectations. The staff we’re fantastic and took us on a private safari in Udawalawe (about 25 minutes away) where we got so close to the elephants. They also arranged a guided canoe trip on the nearby lake - sadly no bathing elephants this time but plenty of other wildlife to see. The evening meal we had there was perhaps the best curry I have ever eaten and all of this at exceptionally good prices. We spoke to several people who went to Yala and spent far more, saw far less and didn’t seem get anywhere near the experience we did.

It was a real experience, sleeping in a glamping tent, listening to nature. You can see they really make an effort and are super nice. We were there with kids, and they loved running around, playing with coconuts, going on a river in a canoe, night walk, and the highlight was the bonefire with great dinner. They also arranged morning safari, which was great. Our tent was completely new, which was perfect. But keep in mind, this is still a tent so don't expect a hotel room.

Super kind and friendly staff. Definitely the best of the camp. The tents are super well equipped. You feel you are in a camp without compromising on comfort. The setting is very nice, and the vibe at night is awesome with the bonfire and the fire lamps. Great option to stay one night if you want to do safari in the afternoon and in the morning.

The manager of the camp was extremely kind and available to chat, to show us around. The tent are perfect: very big and with all the services you might want. The food was very good. We had the best experience. Couldn’t ask for anything different!

The Country Side Hotel at Uda Walawe is a very nice place...

The Country Side Hotel at Uda Walawe is a very nice place right off the main road. Rooms are spacious and clean, overlooking a ~10m long swimming pool within the trees. It is a very nice please to stay overnight before an early morning safari. Breakfast is excellent, as the warm staff members. Such a real pleasure that i stayed an extra day!

Very friendly staff gave a warm welcome. The welcome coffee was the best time of my life. Not only that, I was surprised because the pool was so clean and beautiful. And another best option is that my friends also went on safari with them so we organized the safari with them. The driver is very friendly and has 10 years of experience. Thank you for everything.

This place is one of my favorites in Sri Lanka! It was such a beautiful surprise! Calm area, very nice outdoor setting, the room was very spacious (as was the bathroom!) So let's talk details: - Food: Amazing! Home cooked food, with candlelight and the sounds of nature! - Safari: He was a very good company during my trip! He gave me some tips, was very flexible with my requests. - Helpfulness: Arranged a taxi to my next destination, Overall, it was totally worth it, you will really enjoy it! !
