Wow, what a find Art Yala boutique resort is. If you want a a break away from the hustle and bustle of every day life this is the place to come.It’s hard to explain how beautiful and tranquil the view is from this fabulous resorts garden looking across the lake to the distant Buddhist temple, perfect for morning yoga. Madu the resort owner and his wonderful staff Nisal, Mahesh, Sampath and the outstanding Chef Indika looked after us like family. The fruit and tasty cooked food for dinner is all local produce. The rooms are very modern and spacious with all mod cons required. For a trip to the National Reserve Safari park. Madu can arrange everything for a full day or half day safari. If you’re lucky,like we were you may get to see a Leopard or two along with the many other wild animals. Thanks Madu 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the wonderful stay Kind regards Pete & Di

Gem of a place. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are basic BUT comfortable and clean. For the price they are more than perfect. The setting itself was wonderful - right by the lake, surrounded by wildlife. In the evening, the host took us by tuktuk/scooter for a free tour of the lakes where we saw varans, bats, many birds including two beautiful owls !, and even a (harmless) snake. I booked my Yala safari with the host the day before and we could tell that the driver was more experienced than others. We saw all the wildlife one could see in Yala - leopards, crocodiles, varans, many birds, elephants, mongooses and even a sloth bear ! Perfect place, I'm happy I choose it.

We loved everything with the hotel. The facilities, the spacious and comfortable rooms, the exceptional service from the staff, the food and the pool area. We loved this place! Wonderful homestay overlooking the lake. The owner has created a very comfortable room- lovely 4 poster bed with comfy mattresses and pillows, a huge dressing mirror, hairdryer, desk and chair and a stand to hang clothes, AC and TV. The rooms share a wrap around balcony and a nice terrace to have your meals. Gemunu and his wife made us a lovely dinner - hoppers and fish curry was delicious. The buffalo yoghurt with treacle is a must. We booked a half day safari through them. Chamara was a good guide and we even managed to see a leopard. Though we stayed only a night we loved it and hope to stay here again. Gemunu was really helpful in getting our laundry done for us - washed and folded. It was really appreciated. A fantastic base for your safari.

The dedication of the the staff at Village Mango Resort was fantastic. They organised our safari tour prepared breakfast to take with us at 0430am. We returned for an exceptional lunch the absolute best home cooked meal we have had in Sri Lanka the Aubergine curry was the best.

The room is so spacious and clean, the balcony is the best to chill in the nature. Especially the owner, she is so so kind and lovely! She ordered dinner for me, wash my clothes and help me to get rid of a cockroach from the room. Also arranged good driver for safari. I want to stay here when I come to Tissamaharama again!

The manager took us on a bird and bat watching excursion in the evening which was lovely. There was also wild deer who are comfortable around humans and we fed them. Take away breakfast was prepared for us to take on safari. There are some food options available onsite. The stay was very peaceful and comfortable. The staff are extremely accommodating. Our safari driver Tharanga was very knowledgeable and we found the safari really enjoyable.

    I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort, and it was an experience worth every moment. From the moment we arrived, the tranquil ambiance and stunning views of the surrounding paddy fields immediately set the scene for a relaxing getaway. The resort itself is immaculate, with spotless rooms and well-maintained common areas. Its proximity to the main attractions is incredibly convenient, making it an excellent base for exploring the local sights. What truly sets Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort apart, however, is the exceptional hospitality of the staff. A special shout out to Ayenaji and Surangi from the front desk, and Iresh, Janith, Gihan, Wathsala, and Pavindu from the restaurant for their outstanding service. Additionally, a heartfelt thanks to the many other sweet and most attentive hotel staff who went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. Their service was unmatched, combining professionalism with a warm, personal touch that made us feel right at home. Initially, we only signed up for the bed and breakfast deal, but the quality of the food was so impressive that we ended up dining at the hotel for both lunch and dinner. Every meal was delicious, showcasing a variety of local and international dishes that catered to all tastes. In summary, if you are looking for a place to unwind and soak up the natural beauty of Yala, look no further than Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort. Do yourselves a favor and experience the outstanding service and serene environment – you won't regret it.

    it was an incredible experience from start to finish, with an amazing staff team that made it the brilliant experience it was; they make a real difference. The room and facilities are gorgeous, with a lot of attention to detail to all aspects of accommodation, dining area and safari game drives. We were always well looked after in terms of food and drink, you even have a tasty snack box for the safari drive! The game drive is professionally delivered by a great team who are knowledgeable and familiar with the park; with their experience and some luck of course, we saw leopards on both drives we were entitled to with our stay! The dining experience was top, with a great menu for both food and drinks. We even had a beach side evening meal that was spectacular. Overall we cannot recommend more, and are highly interested in returning and visiting their other 2 establishments in Sri Lanka.

    The hotel is in a perfect location, right next to the main entrance of Yala National Park. It also has its own watering hole where different animals come to (we saw buffalo, deer, crocodiles, pelicans and other birds). You can see this right from the hotel pool area! There are also cheeky monkeys running around, but the hotel staff always ensure top security, escorting guests to their chalets after dark. We stayed in the beach chalet and had an amazing view of the ocean. Upon finding out that we’re on our honeymoon, Saman, manager from the poolside restaurant made our stay very special by going above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable stay. Thank you again for your kindness and sharing your stories with us!

    We stayed in this hotel for 2 days in October 2023. The hotel is located in the Yala Nature Reserve on the ocean. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel staff. The general manager of Colonel proved to be an amazing person. He gave us a real celebration in honor of our wedding anniversary. It was funny and unforgettable. The hotel itself is not new, but it has everything you need. The rooms are large and colorful. All with ocean views, comfortable enough. Many thanks to the staff of the entire hotel for their hospitality and attention to our people.

    Very nice eco kind of place. Clean, calm and situated in the countryside. Ok restaurant but could be a little improved, I would say a 8/10. (Please see the Flavors restaurant nearby to see what is a 10/10) although the pankakes for breakfast were absolutely amazing and also very good birnyami. Very nice safari with a really experienced driver really worth it. And the best of the best is the carrying manager. Doing everything so that we feel safe and comfortable. Awesome work!

    Location and view was just marvellous. We got upgraded to VIP suite where we had both pool and lake view. The resort in itself is so beautiful and picturesque that we didn’t feel like leaving. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

    Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.

    This place is amazing.

    This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

    Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

    We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

    The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari.

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

    We were extremely satisfied with the hotel and its beautiful surroundings. Everything exceeded our expectations. We took lots of photos & are sharing them with friends. The restaurants,Roof bar,Spa's and the pool side and pool is world class with out doubt! The service was outstanding, and that is something that can really make or break a vacation. Congratulations to the Super Proactive General Manager Mr Krishanta Damunupola and his team members to include Mr Seeman and Miss Sandani(Intern) for being so accommodating at all times with oodles of dedication. We also especially liked the super-comfy room with the balcony, bed linens which were very high quality, and felt so good to slip into each night. Thanks so much for a lovely visit.We'll be singing your praises for a long time. Thanks!
