Besides bringing on the canal, opposite the entertainment center and Post Office it has buses, trams, boats, and tourist train just outside. The Old Liepaja is a gem boasting old and Jugend architecture. The city offers many music events on its numerous sites. There are also many catering options in different budget ranges. You can just walk around or travel by car; parking rates are extremely low in the city centre. The most exciting experience was visiting local churches and the underground art gallery near to Rožu laukums. We visited off season so it was nice and quiet with only a few guests in our hotel and Cape Kolka, nature trails, etc were not busy Since it is off season, it was difficult to get dinner as most restaurants and pubs were closed. A nice little town with lots of nice flower decorations in parks and squares. The river walk is very nice. Nice places for food and drinks, both at the Demians Hotel and elsewhere (The Hot Cafe, Casino Olympic, Stender’s Pizza, Cafe Velve). There is enough to do for at least one afternoon if you enjoy nature and history. There is a castle, a small island, castle park with some old trees. A church. Several pretty ponds. An alley of old linden-trees on Pāces street. We Latvians just love big old trees, Dundaga is certainly a good place to find plenty of those. I took a small hike to the cemetery of old time German barons, a very serene place. The town has several restaurants and supermarkets, so no problems with provisions, and I stayed at a comfortable and good value guest house Jūras sapņi. Ventspils - city by the sea, which has Blue flag beach. It is not very crowded even in hot summer days. It is Baltic sea, it can be cold even in summer, it depends on the weather. But there are very nice sandy beaches. The city Ventspils - cozy city with many flowers, many parks for kids to play or just walk in the nature for anybody. Open air waterpark for kids. We celebrated my husband’s birthday in Kuldiga. Most restaurants close at 8 pm we only found one that stayed open until later.
