We loved everything about this place! It is located very close to the Somoto Canyon. The staff is amazing: Francisco and his wife were really welcoming, and always keen on chatting and having us around to discover their home. They even came to the bus terminal and gave us a ride to the accommodation. The room and bathroom were clean and cosy. The food was amazing too. We did canyoning with their friend Miguel, who was friendly and extremely professional too. We also did horse riding next to the canyon. All in all: amazing stay, absolutely recommend. (And a huge + if you’re an animal lover: they have friendly cows, dogs, cute kittens and parrots 🦜)

Juan and his family are very kind, warm and generous. It was a pleasure to meet them and rest in their tranquil house. The food was great, as well as the tour we took with them. Really authentic and unique experience!

This place is an absolute gem! The apartment is spacious, clean, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. Nice functional kitchen. Located at the edge of town in a quiet neighbourhood a short walk from the center. Secure gated and covered parking for our motorcycles. It's a good location for trips to the Somoto Canyon. Sandra the host was happy to help us organise an amazing day in the canyon, where we got picked up in the morning and dropped up in the afternoon at the apartment. More than anything it was Sandra that made our stay truly amazing. She is an amazing woman and a fantastic host.

Location was perfect! Right in Somoto canyon and the nature is amazing. Breakfast was a super good, a typical Nicaraguan breakfast. The staff was so friendly and took care of us super well!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hostal San José. The hostel and rooms are very clean, well furnished and decorated. The staff is super nice and the two dogs lovely. We're really sad that we just stayed for one night. The hostel, Somoto and the surrounding is worth to stay for a while!
