KazakhstanWe stayed at this hotel by accident, because the road to Bergen was closed. We were delighted with the beauty and coziness of the hotel! The view from the room is stunning - you can see the slope of the hills where people go skiing in winter. The room was spacious. I especially want to draw attention to the fact that the room has heating (not a fan coil, but a full-fledged water heating radiator), and at the end of June it was turned on! It was cool outside, so the room was very warm and cozy! This is simply top class! The breakfast is very varied and delicious! Again, you sit with a panoramic view and enjoy the food. Special thanks to the girl at the reception: she had a very stressful situation, many guests and calls, but she remained very friendly! This is worth a lot!

GermanyThe house was absolutely beautiful and very well furbished. The outside area by the river was lovely (although the weather was too chilly to fully make use of it). The beds were comfy and everything was very clean. We were 4 people and had plenty of space.
Contact with the hosts was very friendly and simple.
I would highly recommend this house to anyone wanting to stay in the Voss area.

Gabriela, the manager, was knowledgeable and always enthusiastic to provide necessary information to all the guests. She was all the time running around with lots of smiles. Thomas, the owner, is a super cool guy who looks like he came out of an adventure/wild magazine. He is a genuinely experienced hiker so do ask him if you have any questions at all. You would see him blend in with all his staff working hand in hand around the hotel. We stayed at the lodge for 2 nights and we found both breakfast and dinner way much better than we'd expected. The quality and the attention given to the meal preparation are overwhelmingly satisfied. We highly recommend this place to all nature explorers. One last important note, it is highly recommended that you do backpacking if you're arriving by train. The path from the Ørneberget train stasjon (resembling an abandoned bus stop ^ ^!) down to the lodge is quite steep and could be quite challenging for anyone.Guest review byPat_AngThailand

The minute you get in the door you feel like you're in a museum that takes you back in time. We had gotten a message that we could book a table to dinner but because we were riding all day we didn't think we would get to the hotel in time for dinner. From other guests we heard that the dinner was lovely so we are a bit sad we missed out on this. Breakfast buffet was also nice. WOW, WOW, WOW what a beautiful hotel, very grand and the furnishings are unbelievable. So much history, if you do stay in the motel make sure you visit the hotel and look at all the rooms on the ground floor. We were so happy had a front room overlooking the lake. Voss is very easy to reach by train or bus, and it's very well connected. There's a cable car to whisk you up the mountain, and from there there are walking paths over the fells, and to ski lifts. There's also plenty of nice places to walk in the town and buses to take you to more remote places to walk. The town has some nice places to eat and drink, but it isn't overly touristy. It's an excellent base for visiting Sognefjord and Flåm -- I did a nice circuit on train, ferry and bus and packed a huge amount of gorgeous landscapes into a day.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The view is the only amenity. Dinner was awful but you have no other options as hotel is very secluded. We were told before the trip that there were great hiking trails from the hotel but when we asked the front desk, there was only one road to walk down to see some waterfalls in the distance. It was a charming and cozy hotel with good breakfasts and a scenic lake nearby. A true salvation for us on our way to Flåm and beyond. It’s a great pit stop between some of the most popular destinations like Flåm and others — and I think this hotel is just right. Pathetic.. Avoid it if possible. No value for money at all. We booked a triple room and it was allocated in another building; which little away from main building with reception. Seemed like it was a make-shift arrangement to accommodate the booking. Building was in pathetic condition and sounded like no one had stayed there in last few months (may be a year). * No WiFi at all - we repeatedly requested but we got only false commitment that someone will come and fix it. But nothing happened * No TV (they had TV but not way to plug the power). How someone can fix the TV at the spot where you can not get the power? * Surprisingly room was very cold, I don't know may be due to leakage or may be its due to located in the basement or something else (although it was July). * Very basic breakfast options with very limited options and we had to ask the staff for every single thing such as milk, bread etc. * Staff seemed confusing, with no idea what to help with or no motivation to help perhaps. Voss is clearly the sporting capital of Norway whether it is Summer or Winter. Everything is in easy reach. Hotel was adjacent to the Gondola, Railway Station, Tourist information centre & close to lake & town. Our stay was in a traditional room with view of the lake. Perfect blend of traditional and modern. It had the singularly most advanced en-suite facilities I have ever used. Japanese technology & German manufacturing. Wonderful balcony for a couple to relax in. Room size was to USA standard with seating for 5, writing bureau, 55 inch TV, etc. Swimming Pool with personal lockers. Didn’t use the restaurant but bar meals were good with range of local beers. A number of individual reception rooms for quiet times, reading or family discussion. Staff are efficient & welcoming.
