The staff were all so friendly and the room was beautiful! Our room had a kitchenette, table, king size bed, and a huge bathroom with a waterfall shower and jacuzzi tub. Free parking onsite was helpful since the resort itself is about a 5 minute drive from the main city center. Lovely little town with everything you might need shop wise. A hop, skip and a jump to Ohope beach which is absolutely gorgeous. Awateri trains an absolute must activity. Despite recent news coverage Ōpōtiki is an idyllic location. It has most amenities, the locals are great. The drive to Katikati was terribly slow because of the road works. But we were greeted by the restaurant staff whom made us feel calmer & welcome. The public bar did not disappoint either. Some very friendly fellas chatted to us immediately & recommended the restaurant for a meal. We loved all the paintings & photos all around the place. Such interesting history available for us to learn. We will definetly be back to stay a bit longer & ask for out book to be signed...The Great NZ Pub Crawl. This was just a lovely place in the country, handy for visiting friends and family in the city and having a break at the same time. Omokoroa within a short driving distance has all the restaurants and shops you could want as well as a lovely beach environment.
