We didn’t go into the town of Haast, but were just outside, on the road to Jackson Bay. After the crowds and bustle of other towns, Haast Beach was a welcome change. The suspension bridge over the Hokitika gorge hike was most impressive. While we didn’t make it all the way down to the 2nd bridge (which was apparently closed for repairs) we were happy with the opportunity to still across the first bridge and get some great pics. The Tree Top walk was rather —meh— not sure it was worth the cost of admission; my sister was seriously freaked out by the heights of the walkway so she didn’t enjoy it too much. Ross is a lovely small town. Its quiet and relaxed and the Top Ten Holiday park is even more quiet and relaxed. We enjoyed a fire on the beach and relaxing walks in the surrounding area.
