Sighișoara is definitely one of the places we recommend for tourists. A beautiful medieval city centre and locals seem to be taking pride in their city and wishing to develop it in a pretty and quality way. Its a beautiful city in the heart of Transylvania which has a rich history and cultural background, with architecture that reflects this. Its situated on both sides of the Mures river and as such is predisposed to thick fog, and high degree of moisture. The city revolves around its medical university and facilities. We booked for 2 kids and 2 adults.
We booked for 2 kids and 2 adults. The room is spacious with 2 toilets, one with the bath. Has a king sized bed and a sofa bed wich they opened for us and it was enough for another 2 person. We had lunch at Tiltott Csiki Söröző & Étterem @ Szászrégen / Reghin, that was our best gastronomy experience during our trip to Transylvania. However, there are very rural and abandoned parts of Reghin, you might avoid. We stayed there because it seemed a good place to stop during our way back to Hungary. Sighișoara is like stepping into a medieval storybook—cobbled streets, pastel-colored houses, and a citadel that’s still alive with charm. It’s compact, walkable, and brimming with history, making it perfect for a short getaway or a cultural deep dive. Favourite Places Clock Tower (Turnul cu Ceas): The panoramic view from the top is breathtaking, especially at sunset. Inside, the History Museum adds depth to the experience. Church on the Hill: A peaceful Gothic church with restored frescoes and a serene cemetery behind it. The climb up the Covered Staircase makes the journey feel like a pilgrimage. Citadel Square (Piața Cetății): The heart of the old town, surrounded by quirky buildings like the Stag House and buzzing with street performers. The food was excellent.
The food was excellent. The people were welcoming even though they didn't seem to get many English tourists. There were some old buildings to see and many restaurants to go to which were well priced. Nice place surrounded by the forest, the water in the Black Lake and the Bear Lake is salted, warm and wonderful, the terrace Boema is very nice with live music and the people ar dancing on the dance floor, good food, a lot of souvenirs shops with hand crafts, very kind people.
