Stockholm was wonderfull Ticked all the boxes, historic, great food, good coffee, pretty easy to get around. Public transport was fast and on time (but beware of construction causing some bus stops to be shifted like Slussen). Do a walking tour when you arrive, good to set the scene. Skansen was awesome - loads to see especially all the animals (bears, wolverines, Lynx, owls and farm yard animals. The Vasa Museum is a must (a 400 year old ship recovered from the bottom of the harbour and on full display and it is huge). just explore the different parts of the city on foot. it's a beautiful place. 3 days (4 mights) minimum. add an extra day to see Uppsala (the old capital) about 90 mins north of Stockholm.Guest review byTimAustralia - 6.0

Prefer arriving in Arlanda compared to other airports close to Stockholm as it's easy access into Stockholm. A quiet and safe city with a lot of immigrants. Nice city center with a promenade along the sea that looks like a river. Beautiful surroundings with lakes. It's a bit like being in the suburbs, but it is still easy to get about as the bus leaves from outstide the hotel it is only about 10 mins or so to get to Upplands-Väsby train station. I took a train from there to get to Stockholm city centre (getting off at Stockholm City). The travel ticket allows you 75 mins of travel time so the bus ticket and be used again (including on the train for 75 mins). Note: Stockholm city is literally a couple of mins walk to another station in the city centre called Stockholm Centrum (Stockholm Central Station). Lovely location with a jetty and diving platform on the archipelago. Great buffet breakfasts and dinners with a lovely terrace with a sea view. Near to public transport links to centre of Stockholm. Good bus 211 to bathing beach as well as Ropsten for travel in to stockholm. If you get a week travel pass it can be used on bus train, tram and some ferries. Stayed in area just outside Taby- Arnigan- safe area, with great access to local woods/ walks around the lakes. Transport system is fantastic- easy journey into Stockholm. Unfortunately i came back completely bitten by fleas or bed bugs, the doctors must define it yet. never in my life i had anything similar. I booked a spa hotel but the spa was completely under construction (till May 2026 at least). We were however charged the full spa price and have no compensation yet - only Barbara, the head of the reception team tried to save the situation with some dinner invitations. No answer from Booking and no answer from the hotel management yet. the rooms were small and not properly cleaned every day. No wardrobes or storage for your clothes. i really expected a much higher level for over 3200 Euros for 2 rooms for a week. A beautiful place for a summer trip to Stockholm, using the local ferry to the city center is so easy and affordable, the best way to travel. However, the local buses stop early evening and are at the top of a steep hill.
