Jiaoxi is renowned for its hot springs. Quite a few hotel or accommodations provide onsite hot spring so that the guest can enjoy hot spring without going out. It is a quiet town and a walkable downtown area.
It is a quiet town and a walkable downtown area. The beach is nearby and a surfing mecca. Most restaurants close at 6 or 7pm and by 9pm the town is completely shutdown except 7 Eleven. I stayed in Jiaoxi for 2 nights only so that I could do the trip to Turtle Island but my impression is that the place merits a longer stay as I didn't have time to visit the hot springs, Our Lady of Wufengqi Sanctuary, or to undertake any of the local walks. I ate at HoYa restaurant where the staff and other customers were very helpful in finding out what I wanted to order.
