Amazing resort with a stunning view to the ocean and private pool and so peaceful. The staff all of them but especially Godfrey were very kind to us. The accommodation always provided a private cab, when we needed one. The food in the restaurant was good but not great. I want to say thank you to all the staff for the amazing hospitality and great vacation, definitely coming back.

BOOK BOOK BOOK I don’t know where to start as we are still mesmerised as everything was 10/10. Location: Perfecto If you want a central place but not directly on the busy main however a 10-15 mins walk to the main nwngwi beach then look no more ! Amazing views from the balcony and the sound of the soothing waves at night ♥️🌊 Facility: 100/10 Clean , organized, authentic , everything you need is there with the best quality Kettle , fridge , toiletries, safe, everything you think you need Food: Breakfast was 💯💯 full of variety and tasty Beautiful fresh and cool fresh plate of fruits before your food And a different layout for the breakfast plate every morning full of fresh and tasty food Did not feel bored as we were surprised everyday with something different Big portion I was normally full till the evening for dinner ! Amazing restaurant Staff: 100000/10 Having been to many hotels in different countries I can confidently say .. this feels like home, they feel like family and I felt like ROYALTY 👸 Attentive to you at all times, they are there before you ask, literally a thought away 💭 Always smiling and cheerful We stayed there for our honeymoon and my oh my were we pampered. We had daily special fresh juice mock tails, snacks when ever we were chilling in the sun beds They would come with towels when we return after a swim before we ask We were spoiled rotten, no other hotel will ever live up to this Thanks Beatrice, Nancy , and each and every one for making us feel like home And last but not least Ahmet 💯 He is the owner and ALWAYS around physically and even when we bug him at 10pm asking about recommendations for places and activities.

I want to briefly tell you how great the hotel is. First of all, I will start by saying that the owner is an amazing person who welcomed us as if we were his friends. The beauty, aesthetics, every detail of the hotel has been thought out and done so well. In my opinion, you can have an amazing vacation in the hotel itself, just by not leaving the hotel yard. The outdoor seating area, the rooms, everything is extraordinary. As for breakfast, I can say that I've been to 35 countries and I've never had such a delicious breakfast in such a pretty atmosphere. Also, one evening, it was the owner's brother's birthday and we were invited, it was a very memorable evening. Thank you for everything! It is a very good hotel in terms of location and everything. 100% recommendation from us.

Best hotel in Zanzibar, and we tried other 5star hotels too. The facilities, design, staff, pool, rooms, cocktails, service - 200 percent. All brand new. Very cozy. Especially the staff were amazing. We asked for fresh seafood barbeque, and they organised it for us. Tepanyaki dinner was also great. I wish we could stay longer!

We all loved TUI and had amazing holidays. We would definitely come back! The property is beautiful, has a lot of activities and a tropical scenery. Now to the specifics: The staff in general were super friendly and happy. A special thanks to Kelvin from the beach bar. The food was absolutely amazing, from the breakfast buffet, to the lunch in green & grill (paid, as we had only half pension), to all the dinner options - except Andiamo, see below. We specially loved the buffets at the beach and around the pool. We did 2 tours from the hotel which were great and the same price of outside companies. We strongly recommend the swimming with dolphins tour, that can be book at the hotel’s diving shop. Go in the afternoon when there’s less people. They take you on a boat and when you see dolphins you jump to the water! It’s a good workout as you do this multiple times to get a perfect shot :) The swimming pool is great and always had chairs available - great due to the low tide at the beach. This side of the island has the low tide phenomenon which makes it impossible to go swim in the ocean for some hours. But that’s nature. If you do try, take aqua shoes because there’s a lot of sea urchins. There’s free sandwiches, fruit and water at the reception 24h/day.

Absolutely fantastic holiday! The hotel is very nice, located right by the sea almost in the middle of the village of Matemwe. Very nice rooms, including a great outdoor shower! Thorough, careful and perfect cleaning twice a day. The hotel staff was very nice and everyone did everything they could to make us feel at home. I would like to highlight the following fantastic people: Sauli, Rakim, Charles, Atosha, Emmanuel & Rajab!!! The hotel has a very good pool and great sunbeds overlooking the ocean and reef. There is security at night, everything is absolutely safe, tidy and clean! The restaurant always perfectly prepared and ready to fulfill all your wishes. Nicely landscaped garden, air conditioning in the room fully functional, mosquito nets and mosquito sprays as a bonus. Breakfast simple but very delicious! Great coffee and fresh fruits! Free towels at the pool. Thank you for the unforgettable moments, for the beautiful farewell dinner and the endless football games of Aron and Rajab! We miss you!!

This year we spent our Christmas vacation at the Riu Palace Zanzibar Hotel. It was already our second Christmas holiday in this hotel. I would like to thank you for the wonderful days spent in this hotel. Where to start? From the beach (beautiful clean beach, great service of beach boys and security), bar and restaurant staff very nice, attentive. Yohana always greeted us in the main restaurant with a nice smile (we thank him for always a nice welcome). Food quality very good. A mix of Indian, Italian and international cuisine. In my opinion, the rooms are beautiful, stylish, always beautifully cleaned and smelling :-) Every day before going to bed, they prepare your room again. At sunset, have a drink at the Ginger bar by the pool and take photos. Unforgettable! Special thanks to the Assistant General Manager Mr. Ghosh. An excellent person not only as a personality, but also from a professional point of view. Always available and willing to help. Thank you

We spent our last week in Zanzibar at this hotel. From the staff to the managers, everyone is extremely helpful and respectful. You truly feel that the customer is highly valued here. The rooms are well cleaned every day. The pool is cleaned several times a day. Every evening, the hotel provides entertainment during dinner. All our wishes were quickly fulfilled. The staff work with a smile and are always ready to help. I would like to highlight four people, namely Latifah, Victor and Baraka. They are top employees and always served us with a big smile! A great asset to the hotel! Additionally, I would like to thank the manager, Mark, for his very professional and helpful approach. My husband had an allergic reaction, and the manager immediately called a doctor. So, I can strongly recommend this hotel if you are looking for peace, luxury, and relaxation. You will surely have a fantastic holiday and enjoy the beautiful view of the blue Indian Ocean!

My experience at Gold Zanzibar Beach House & Spa was undoubtedly the pinnacle of my Zanzibar hotel experiences, featuring what is unquestionably the best beach on the island. Unlike other hotel beaches visited during our trip, including those in Nungwi, here we could enjoy swimming at any time, regardless of the tide’s whims, which was a true delight. The dining experience at Gold Zanzibar was unparalleled, with each dinner made even more special by planned nightly live music and performances that added an unforgettable ambiance. However, it was the extraordinary staff that truly set this experience apart. Among them, Baraza stood out for his extreme politeness, helpfulness, and attentiveness, embodying the exceptional level of service that makes Gold Zanzibar Beach House & Spa not just a hotel, but a memorable experience. I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone looking for the ultimate beach getaway in Zanzibar.

The vibes are great — everything you need is nearby, including shops, restaurants, and tour offices. Restaurants on the beach tend to be a bit pricey, but if you take a short walk into the side streets, you’ll find places offering the same quality food at much more reasonable prices. What I didn’t like were the beach boys — they’re nice and friendly, but can be a bit annoying as they keep trying to sell things. They’re not too pushy, but it’s hard to relax when someone approaches you every couple of minutes. The only time you can truly enjoy some peace is early in the morning. Important note : you have to strongly negotiate the prices and people are very nice and easy going Try to learn few words from their language they will be super happy :)

Matemwe was nice - the beach part.

Matemwe was nice - the beach part. Sad to see the poverty behind the gates of the hotel. The tides were a bit different from what we have expected as the water would leave the beach at 9am and return around 5pm. If you did not make it to swim early in the morning, you missed it. We took a reef walk which was beautiful, saw a lot of see creatures, and that was very amazing experience. Also took a boat tour to see the sunset - it was worth the trip. Did not like how the locals would just stop on the beach and start shouting at you to buy smth. Also the part of the hotel beach is not segregated in any way, which does not give you a privacy enough. The food was amazing though - the hotel goes much beyond - and all day brekfast concept was amazing.

The sea and beach with super soft and white sand are absolutely fabulous and relatively clean. I got bitten by sand fleas on my legs because I spend a lot of time in the sea and walked barefoot. There is a lot of informal trade on the beach by locals trying to sell something. Maybe even more so if you are a woman walking alone.

Generally, a lovely and intimate establishment with staff that care for your personal needs. The manager is so friendly and always wants to know how the guests are doing. The most beautiful sunrises. The performances add to the spice. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Matemwe is ideal for relaxing and spending quality time with friends and family. Matemwe is near Mnemba island 🏝️ for swimming with dolphins 🐬 . We rode bicycles 🚲 around the village and the place felt very safe. There are few alternative places for lunch or dinner. Not too far from stone town.

The location is great, just a minute from the ocean, there are a lot restaurants both expensive and very local ones, no issues with electricity, hot shower and air-con and the safe box. Card and cash payment is acceptable. Very safe to stay and walk around even at night, the owner is very kind and trustworthy. Very basic breakfast but it OK, no TV and fridge in the room, internet is breaking so often especially in the room, but it works perfectly at the balcony. It is very budget friendly and highly recommend it.

The nearby beaches are scenic, but there are some important things to consider. The ocean is full of sea urchins, making swimming risky without proper footwear. During the day, low tide pulls the water far from the shore, so swimming may not always be possible. If you walk toward the reef, expect to be approached frequently by local beach vendors, which can feel intrusive — especially when you're clearly not carrying money. Local security presence is minimal, so don't expect much intervention in these situations. It's best to come prepared and manage your expectations if you're looking for a peaceful swim.

Truly enjoyed the pristine beach and the laid back nature of the place. Totally enjoyed several meals at Fish Restaurant which were absolutely delicious. I tried Kingfish, Changu, Perch, White Snapper, Prawns etc. The seafood was phenomenal. We also enjoyed seeing the turtles and the artwork at several curio shops. Also enjoyed an early morning boat ride seeing the dolphins. I can't believe how fast time went by. Looking forward to visiting Zanzibar again.

The snorkeling was a true adventure, with well-protected marine life and crystal-clear water. Spotting the dolphins was an unexpected bonus! Visiting the sea turtle rehabilitation center and feeding them was a special experience.
