The Staff are best in the area Andrea helping you with tours/ practicals & Suma in the restaurant with a bright smile always. The food is perfect with the most affordable prices, and quality in the area. The owner cares a lot about the guests helping in any way possible to offer best experience for the guests. We were offered cold ginger orange drinks coming to the hotel, and the check in and check out was fast and smooth. You can get Taxi service by contacting the Hotel in advance. You have access to one of the beatiful beaches in Zanzibar with sea view and marvelous sunrise+sunsets. Its possible to take walk along the long beach of Uroa. Breakfast and coffee in the morning with Indian Ocean view LOVE IT🤎 Can't wait going back here and going on Tuna Fishing trip as offered by the Hotel. Enjoy the sun, and nature! Max&Agnes

We loved absolutely everything! The staff were so-so kind and helpful, food tasted amazing and there was always so many different types of it. Air conditioning was better than any else hotel we have visited in Africa or Asia and rooms were clean, big and nice. We also loved the pool area where you can get literally everything you want- deeper and lower water, sunshine and not if you've had enough of it already. And best coctails in pool bar!! We had already booked another hotel too before our trip to Zanzibar (a bit more expensive one actually) and we regretted this decision every day and wished we had spent our whole trip in Zanzibar in TOA's hotel.

Very nice place to spend your holidays. It is well maintained, clean, has amaizing views, nice pool. The staff is very friendly. The food was good, very big portions. The hotel has good value for money. We loved the beach - it was clean, you can swim during high and low tides. Perfect place if you don’t want to be in the middle of nowhere but also want quiet holidays. No noisy bars, etc. Also, it felt safe.

This hotel is a paradise on earth - both hotel and sea are beautiful. The pool is deep and refreshing, the food is amazing in the restaurant - I would recommend Prawn Curry. :) Hotel management is very helpful and helped us with transfers and other questions. Kudos to Anna - she made us feel welcome and pampered. Pingwe beach is gem - it is beautiful both high and low tide - and you can swim here also in low tide - just walk to white sand lagoons and enjoy crystal clear sand. When I would return to Zanzibar - this hotel would be the place to return.

Located in a quiet area of Dongwe, perfect for peace and tranquility. It is a very modern hotel with individual detached bungalows constructed to a high standard of furnishing and comfort. The gardens are beautiful and immaculately maintained and afford privacy and shade for the bungalows. The cafe/restaurant is pleasant with good freshly prepared food at reasonable prices. The staff is warm and welcoming. The standout feature is the very large swimming pool which is very clean. We booked an extra day - it was so nice. You can walk to the beach but it is a little scruffy with plastic bottles strewn around, and some seaweed in the water but still possible to swim. There was no hassle from anyone.

    I would like to start this review by saying that if I could then I would rate this property 11/10! This is easily the best hotel stay I've ever had (not only in Tanzania). The hotel is just great, it's not big, but it's amazingly beautiful, everythings fresh and clean. The rooms ar amazing and the service is out of this world. And the staff who works there was one of the kindest and friendliest. But the best thing of this hotel are the Italian family that runs the hotel and also the family that runs the restaurant. We felt so good, welcomed and basically we felt like we've been friends for a long time - they are truly great people and I was sad to leave the hotel. Can't forget to mention the restaurant - 10/10, if you like Italian cuisine then you will love the menu they have as much as I loved it. Everything was so delicous, fresh and versatile. I recommend this botique hotel to everyone! Thank you Lisa for the amazing stay we had.

    Great Experience! The staff here are incredibly kind and friendly, always helpful and attentive. The service is excellent – "Hakuna Matata" is definitely more than just a saying here! 😊 The surroundings are very clean and well-maintained, making the stay even more enjoyable. The room was always spotless, and it's really convenient that you can contact them via WhatsApp if you need fresh towels or anything else. A special shout-out to Mohamed, who is truly an outstanding member of the team. He is not only highly competent and helpful, but also really funny. It’s a pleasure to chat with him – he really adds to the great atmosphere here! I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back!

    absolutely love this place! Very comfortable room, AC works very well, shower works nicely. Wifi works well, Electricity too. Resort was really great, employees were smiling all the time and nothing was a problem. Food was delicious every day. Big variation of food for breakfast lunch and dinner! Big respect for the kitchen! Pools were fantastic and clean. Trips from hotel great as well. All what was agreed worked! All inclusive package worth it. Thank you for beautiful vacation.

    Excellent location for quiet vacations. The tide change the view all the time. The villas are spacious, well equipped and modern designed. The sea view villas gives you the privacy that you want. The food was excellent , the chef overcome our expectations. Service was really good. The free massage in spa was very nice and the girls really polite. We didn't want to go out of the hotel area because it was perfect.

    I really enjoyed all the dishes on the menu. The breakfast menu was quite vast, however, im not really a breakfast person so I didn't eat much of their breakfast dishes (even though it's inclusive of your stay). I definitely enjoyed all the meals i had for lunch and dinner.

    Had an amazing time in Matlai! Everything was perfect! Breakfast was delicious and the restaurant had the best dumplings and Bao buns! Our butlers Tito and Jubair were very friendly and always ready to provide us with whatever we needed. The hotel spa was great as well!

    Michamvi is good for relaxing and enjoying . There are few vendors and they are not disturbing you and friendly. We stayed 25 days at Kikoi Boutique Resort and arranged all excursions on Zanzibar as well as a Safari with Sir Alex at Kikoi for reasonable prices and with good service . Their Cook Mister Mahaveer Sing is a real Master Chef and we enjoyed every meal he prepared us . Compliments to all the people working there. You made our stay unfogettable. Greetings Paula& Johannes from The Netherlands . We are looking forward to come back again .

    What we like most about pongwe is about the safety and quietness of the place ,very peaceful and calm, what we didn't like it's just the beach that's why we didn't get to go there,we liked more of kendwa though it's far from pongwe

    The resort was clean and had the island atmosphere. Food was good and a variety to choose wwwith different restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Just a reminnder that you will pay extra at the airport for insurance fees and also extra tax fees at the hotel if its not included in your original price.

    Please remember that Marumbi is a Village in a poor third world country and therefore there is very little to do. A few local shops. A couple of local Restaurants (We loved Bustani), no bars and a hotel that doesn’t welcome outsiders. If you are looking for nightlife it’s probably not for you.

    the welcoming commetee was amazing. They made us feel at home. Checking in was a breeze and the pool bar staff was so helpful and friendly. I loved the music by the pool area,it was inclusive to all nations. Tha food was amazing the whole experience was great. I was there to celebrate my birthday and they made it extra special. From the decoration in my room,to the suprise cake and singing.i had a good time. The rock resturant is less than 5min away, we wemt there using the free bicycle offered at the hotel.

    Pongwe Beach Hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing vacation. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beach and grounds are beautiful and well maintained . We love that it peaceful and quiet with no loud music or jet skis. We enjoyed the program put on by the hotel staff that included the guests.

    This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi...

    This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi bar, it has what you need, different restaurangs, a super market, beachbar and so on. There is not so many other tourists here so you feel like its really a part of an small island. If you are looking for highend dining and alot of shopping then i advise you to look for another area or do as we did - get a car or a taxi its ok priced for a full day. The traffic was really suprising - its was better then most so called modern countries - slow, keeping distance -respecting each other - we rented a car for 3 days and it was super nice. We payed 30usd/day + 10usd for the local driving license - dont drive to fast or drunk - the police are really on there toes - and mind the big roadbumps... We ate a lot of lobster and fish - always fresh - never dissapointed, we also ate alot of vegetarian food - its everywere great dishes.

    Enjoyed having lunch at the Rock and also liked the lunch at Kea restaurant.It is simple getting around Michamvi and don't even have to ask your way around.We enjoyed snorkling and going to the star fish spot

    It was amazing!!

    It was amazing!! Beautiful place and unbelievable accommodation. Food great . The service from the staff was the best ever !!! Both of us fell in love with all of the people working there . Cannot recommend Pongwe Island enough ❤️

    The location was excellent.

    The location was excellent. The vegetation was very nice, and the seating places were very comfortable. Following my unfavourable interaction with cats, we were upgraded to a bigger room with an ocean view since I have ailurophobia (cat phobia). Thanks to the hotel owners for such a gesture. We had an issue with our bank card, and they also gave us more time during our stay to sort this out. Disliked · Being an Ailurophobia (Cats phobic), I did not enjoy the outdoor space because several cats roamed everywhere, including the restaurant, balconies and stairs. This has nothing to do with the owners but my personal condition. I advise those with similar conditions to avoid this place. Areas of improvement include breakfast - more food diversity and a balanced diet are needed. The beds in the rooms need to be fixed to avoid noise. Bathrooms need upgrading.
