Mr. Simon was a great addition to our experience, as we wanted to explore all the facilities that this resort has to offer! We really loved going to the spa, where we had a lovely massage for 75mins. The whole resort was clean, the pools especially didn’t disappoint. Breakfast buffet was good, a lot of different options, Vietnamese food as well as western food. We also ordered room service, which is available 24/7, and it was really good. Would definitely recommend the club sandwich! The view outside the resort itself was already wonderful, but the view from our room was even better. Our experience was a 10/10. Enjoyed Cat Ba, but don’t go on others reviews for accomodation, check out places fully, we changed places twice and would have changed again but decided to stick it out, do not accept a bad room, ask for one which you believe you have paid for and as it was described when you booked it. Don’t book for a weekend or public holiday, the Vietnamese flood the town. Very tranquil ,beautiful.views , enjoyed the swim and canoeing which were part of the trip, food was good . Be prepared for all the rub bish floating which was a shame and the hawkers in the little boats trying to sell.you stuff, we had a cabin with a balcony which was nice but as we were right next to the water they could harass you . Great place for tours/excursions such as the cruises that take place often, or a day trip organised to other areas. Had some lovely restaurants and coffee spots too. However, currently lots of construction taking place in the town so if you had time, I'd say it's worth it for the visit but wouldn't be missing out on loads currently if you planned to go but with no intention of doing the cruises or a tour.Guest review byCiaraIreland - 6.0

We planned to stay in Halong for 1 day, on our way to Cat Ba island and planned to stay another day on our way back to Hanoi. Due to rough seas after typhoon Kajiki, we stayed 2 days in Halong. The town is very quiet, many businesses and hotels are closed and it shows what happens to a once busy and thriving place, when the tourists no longer come in their previous numbers. Did not want to do the hiking in Cat Ba national park, however we hired a scooter and this is a great way of seeing a place. Loved taking the cable car to Hai Phong (when travelling back to Hanoi) instead of the ferry. This is is run by Sun World which also runs the cable car in Ha Long.Guest review byCecileUnited Kingdom
