Royal Hotel’s beautiful lobby includes a patterned stone floor, a painted ceiling and an Art Nouveau-style marble staircase. Guests can relax in the armchairs or read a newspaper here. What’s not to like? HR will always be a 10. Independant hotel, family owned and customer service oriented, it’s a gem we found 2 years ago and were glad to come back. Clean, fresh, wonderful class and character. Perfect decor, wallpaper, furnishings, artwork. The 2pm cake of the day is a treat which we hovered around like hungry vultures. Victor on reception is a charming and entertaining host and we hope he’s still there next time, great sense of humour. Great home away from home, see you next time folks.

I enjoyed the privacy of the cottage situated within natural vegetation in an agricultural area. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the environs in the evening such as bird watching. The cottage was cheerfully decorated and the beds were comfortable. I liked being able to open all the windows at night.

The surroundings are peaceful and the silence at night was wonderful, lovely decking by the lake for outside sitting, walking trails, good breakfast, lovely to see the interpretive centre being used so much. On site restaurant had good, well considered dinner menu.

The location is exceptional - right by the lake, calm and atmospheric. The accommodation is comfortable and full of character. Breakfast was good, and the dinner was truly excellent.
