The best thing was the location. It was very close to the main train and bus station to go to Mt. Fuji. It was clean and there was more space than a standard Japanese hotel room.
More than just accommodation, this Inn is a true Japanese experience in itself; Perfectly located to enjoy Mount Fuji, the space is super comfy and quiet, perfect for a good rest. The traditional bath was an invigorating perk, and the cherry on top was our exceptionally kind hosts who, in addition to sharing the history of their family and the location, gave us precious advice for our Mount Fuji climb and our upcoming stay in Kyoto.
The rooms were spacious by Japanese standards. The hotel had direct access into a family Mart which is convenient as there are very few places to eat in the evening on this side of the lake if you don’t have a car.
We had an entire little house (“cottage”) for us, with an own bathroom, separate toilet, kitchen, dining area (in and outside) and 2 bedrooms. The onsen was devine and we had it everyday for us. The place is just next to an important shrine belonging to the Fuji unesco world heritage. We cycled around the lake and discovered a real typical Japanese restaurant nearby. Free shuttle available too.
Japanese style bedroom and breakfast were excellent
The view from the room window is breathtaking, the Fuji changes every moment and you can follow from your bed. The service was top level, breakfast really nice. We also liked the atmosphere of the hotel, not Japanese entirely but very homely and elegant at the same time. We rented the bikes (free) and rode around the lake. You should not miss the rooftop bar and the private bath on the roof either. Both amazing.
We booked this room spontaneously when we decided last minute to extend our stay in Fujikawaguchiko. The staff was exceptionally friendly and stayed up longer for us to let us check in after 9pm when we took way longer then expected to get down mount fuji. The room was adorable, we booked the classic japanese room with tatami. They also provide classic western mattresses for people who don’t want to sleep on a futon. The location is amazing, right next to the main station. We’d book this place again.
Staff are excellent. Japanese dinner was great experience Buffet breakfast was great… far better from the European hotels we stayed with buffet breakfast And the hotel has a beautiful garden and walking distance to the lake
This was by far the best hotel that I stayed in Japan. It's not a low-budget place, but for your (still reasonable) money, you get the best service, comfy room, lovely onsen and kind and helpful staff. The hotel has vending machines, and if you want to order a takeaway dinner and don't speak Japanese, the receptionists will help you. There is also a nice lobby where you can taste Japanese wines. If I ever have a chance to return to Kawaguchiko, I'll also be back in this hotel!
